30 Minutes of STEAM #1: 7 Grand Steps

Since this was the first game in my Steam backlog list, I was pretty excited to get started. As soon as I booted the game up, I knew I was in for something I'd never seen before. The start screen for the game looks similar to those games in Chuck. E. Cheese that you put tokens in to try and knock more tokens off the platform. You have to physically click and drag the token into a coin slot to begin.

Once the game begins, it only gets more strange. You use tokens to advance your characters on a symbol-based half-circle game board. Your characters are a family whose goal is to have children in order to make a new generation. You start in the Copper Age and move towards present time. I didn't make it out of the Copper Age, because I didn't find myself having much fun with it. Once systems started clicking, I could figure out some fun ways to manipulate them, but overall, this was not what I was expecting when I started this journey through the 300 games in my backlog.

My rating based on my time with the game: 2 out of 5 stars

Time Played: 31 minutes

30 Minutes of STEAM: The Beginning

I've had this itch to create something that has been in my head for a while now. That itch has become this blog: 30 Minutes of STEAM. My goal is to play at least 30 minutes of each of the games in my STEAM backlog, which right now is at about 300 games, in alphabetical order. Most of these games were purchased in Humble Bundles and cheap sales so I rarely know what I'm getting myself into.

My first game is 7 Grand Steps: Step 1, What Ancients Begat.
