Well first off lemme answer the question of the day: I will be going to PAX as soon as they get themselves over here to the east coast. I can't wait till 2010. I hope it's in New york cause that'll give me an excuse to head on over to the Nintendo World Store which I've always wanted to do.
Now onto the rest of my life. I got to hook up a friend's 360 to my monitor today and no matter how hard I tried we had these huge black bars on the side of the screen. This was two player split screen and we had the LAN up so we could do four players with decent sized screens. I would have stretched the screen but the menus were the right size. I dunno I'm gonna have to work that out. I think I know what the problem is. We had it set to 720p and that's the "official" native resolution of Halo 3. All the menus and the Xbox Guide were in 720p, but the game itself is around 640p if I remember. This is why lazy developers need to either go the full nine yards on their games or put them on the Wii in 480p so you don't have to. A lot of these games have "720p" support but are a lot closer to resolutions of 480p. It really bothers me. Thankfully Microsoft talked about adding new resolutions to the 360 that support 16x10 widescreen which is what my monitor is so this should be smoothed out. It probably would of been fine in 480p mode but I never checked.
So Mario Kart Wii...is pretty good. I would go and buy this game right now but I gotta save up for a 360. Now here's my delima

So I'm luring a Banshee through the Metropolis level on Halo 2 and those frickin marines shoot it everytime! Explain to be how a giant flying tank gets blown up by a shotgun?!?!?!?!? Well I'll get it through eventually and then I can get the scarab gun (which is why I was luring the banshee around in the first place) and then get some achievement points for it. But then I gave up on that went on Kotaku and found out that Halo 3 on PC is all but confirmed. I'll get it when I upgrade if it has cross platform play otherwise I'll get the 360 version when I get a 360 in a few months. I found a store on eBay where I can get a 360 and a copy of Guitar Hero III for just under $260. Not bad even after the price drops in September. Regular 20 GB models are $220 (with shipping) so I can always buy a 120 GB HDD when I run out of room. But as I was going on through Kotaku later on tonight I saw this:

I leave not with a random YouTube video but a reason to buy this. The One Piece DVD set. If you don't know about One Piece it's a popular anime and manga series in Japan about Monkey D. Luffy and his journey to become king of the pirates by finding the legendary treasure One Piece. The series has a run with a English dub being done by 4Kids and another by Odex. The Odex one is horrible in the sense that the voice actors were probably pulled off the streets. This version is rare to come by in most of the world and was only in one country that I can't remember. Then the 4Kids version sucked because they westernized it. Some things they did were: changing skin colors on characters, removing blood and cursing, removing ENTIRE STORY ARCS, renaming characters (Zoro becomes Zolo,) and removing any references to Japanese culture, alcohol, and any potentially religious material (one guy wears a cross and it gets edited out.) That's just a little bit of what those butchers did. Thankfully they gave up the liscense to Funimation (Dragonball Z, Shin Chan, Black Cat, etc.) and it rocks. So here is a great scene from early on in the series involving Luffy, Nami, and Buggy the Clown. This clip is hilarious and is reason enough to buy the DVD set. After I get a 360 this is priority one for me:
Well other than the obvious blue hedgehog response I would say Soul Calibur since 3 was a bit disappointing but now that 4 is out and it looks great I guess I can't say that. I guess I'd have to say Banjo and Kazooie. I dunno about you guys but Nuts and Bolts just looks bad like really really bad. Though I'm sure it will be an alright game I just don't see the appeal that made me rent the first one eight times. Another big one is Star Fox. I mean look at the original. It is a 16 bit masterpiece. The sequel is one of the best games ever made and then Rare made it into an adventure game which was good for what it was except then the flight was horrible and that's what the final boss was a flying fight! And the guy you think is the main bad guy isn't even a boss battle! What was the point of even including him if you're just gonna make me fight Andross for the third time. Thank goodness he was actually killed but then the sequel screwed up too! Namco did a much better job with the flying than Rare did but then you go to the second mission and you're out of the cockpit and onto the ground. If I could I'd play the first mission over and over again just because of the epic scale of the battle and the fact it's a fully flying mission. Star Fox Command is pretty good but it's not enough to save the series and I hope they do something good with Star Fox on Wii. If you played WarioWare Smooth Moves you probably played the Star Fox mini game on 9-Volt's set and if you ask me a linear style Star Fox game with those controls would be perfect. Even if it's a small WiiWare title I'd find some way to pre-order. So to answer the question of the day: Star Fox but there's hope for it unlike other more blue franchises.

Letter 5: Gamertag support but we all know that's coming soon. Pig Legs: Achievement Pages on game, like in a separate tab or something plus include trophies and steam achievements. A controller for Xbox 360! But no Xbox...yet...anyway this all but sets it for me that I'm going for a 360 next. I'm getting babysitting money on Friday and it's gonna be saved up till I get another 200 bucks on top of it and then I get a 360. Or if possible one on eBay without a controller so maybe I can save some cash. I also got the Games For Windows reciever so I can use the controller and it should make Halo a lot easier for me. I'm gonna play around with it now and I'll talk to you guys later.
They're thinking of NOT publishing Brutal Legend? That's the second time in a row that Double Fine gets screwed on a publishing deal! First Microsoft backs out of Psychonauts and now Activision is gonna pull out of Brutal Legend?!?!?!? This is not a good thing. We cannot have this! If I was that idiot from my FFXIII blog I would say to boycott Activision and all their products...but I want Guitar Hero so let's not do that. But to be fair they haven't come out and said they're not making it yet and I'm sure the moment they drop it Double Fine will come out with another publisher. But it's not looking like Brutal Legend is coming out anytime soon. Well I hope they get a publisher or get Activision to do it. If they drop it I would take a good bet that EA would pick it up just to get back at Activision. That'd be cool.

So I mentioned before that I get money through babysitting and today I got quite a bit which will help me save up for a 360 (80 bucks for this past month) and now that I type that I realize I could get a decent graphics card for that...hmmm...well anyways today I get over there around noon and their mom is running late and the boy runs into her cigarette and gets i minor burn on his chest (he doesn't like to wear a shirt) so things started off well. It was a sign of things to come as they were very hyper the whole day and I had to yell at them constantly to get them to calm down. We went over to my house (they live across the street) and I let them play games to keep them entertained. So while the little girl was playing Smash Bros. the boy kept screaming that he wanted to go home and I have no problem with it just we had to wait for his sister to be ready. Well I had to, several times, pull him away from the door, make sure the windows were locked, and deal with the screaming for about twenty minutes when my grandma (who also babysits them) said she would take them over to their house and I sent the little girl home after she finished her match (she lost btw, it was her and 2 computer guys on blue vs 1 mario cpu on red) and then I realized something...kids suck. But they're just kids and my mind keeps telling me that that's just how kids are and to not hold it against them. And to comfort my fists from flying and my voice from laughing like the lunatic I am I just tell myself that one day he's gonna grow up. He's gonna find a lovely wife. He's gonna have some kids. And he's gonna pay tenfold. Good thoughts...did I mention he threw a rock at me?
This isn't some big dilemma or anything but I'm not sure what to do. I'm going in on Monday to trade in 14 games at GameStop, only 7 are mine, and a memory card, which doesn't work...well...Anyway I'm getting rid of Pokemon Colosseum (maybe I'm not final on that one), Wave Race Blue Storm, Tony Hawk's American Wasteland, Gladius, and Ultimate Spider Man on GameCube. Red Steel and Monkey Ball on the Wii are gone. And My sister is "letting me" trade in Mario Party 5, Smash Bros. Melee, Animal Crossing, and Pokemon Channel for GameCube, and WarioWare Touched and a Spyro game on DS. They got this thing going on where if you trade in 5 or more games you get a bonus 30% so I figured now was the perfect time to trade some stuff in. I don't know what to do though. I'm getting 55 bucks on top of that for babysitting and I was thinking about a game or I could save it all for a 360 or PS3 or PSP. What do you guys think?
First off, regrading the change from PS3 only to both 360 and PS3, I am appalled. Not at Square Enix, no at the fanboys. I just can't imagine that the fans are so greedy that they wouldn't want to share a great game like Final Fantasy XIII with as many people as possible. Now it reminds me of the rounds of online fights I had with several Sony fans a few years back where they acted like they were better than me because I had a GameCube and was excited for Wii. That was a fun week when they called it Wii...anyways... they always act like they're better than others just because the own a PlayStation 2. Now those same fans who got a PlayStation 3 are going nuts because their "almighty king of consoles" had one of its top games stoop down to some level of damnation caused by the Xbox 360. Now first off this guy is a genuine ass. I don't like to swear, ask any of my friends, but there is no other word that can describe him. He says that Square betrayed their fans and that nobody will buy this game because of it. Well if they don't buy the game then why would Square bother putting it on the PS3 at all? What about Final Fantasy XIV? If they don't buy it then they aren't gonna get it. Now there are people like me who have all three consoles or plan to get all three (I'm in the latter) and have made the decision to buy the PS3 version. I mean the PS3 version has all these things that the Xbox 360 version just can't do. For example: do you think that all cutscenes in the 360 version are gonna be done in real time? I'd doubt it. They'll probably be pre-rendered. The Blu-Ray media will allow the game to fit on one convenient disc as opposed to the DVD format that has much less space. This means that the 360 version will be more compressed and could very well be on two or more discs. Remember Lost Odyssey? It was on four discs and Final Fantasy XIII looks to head down the same path. Now I could go on about how I think these are just sour FFVII fans who are mad about the tech demo back in 2005 that never came to be but then I would start sounding like the ass. So PS3 owners just buy your game. It's not like it's gonna suffer from being ported to the 360 because they're just getting a port of your version. I wanna know if there is gonna be a PC verison. The guy from Square wasn't too clear on that. But he did say something along the lines of PS3 game first, then PC, then 360 so I think that if a PC version is definitely in the works I'd consider that since the PC still can do more than the PS3 but that's me and I'll leave you guys to decide what version if any to get. Well until the guys at Giant Bomb get our gamertags up and running I took it upon myself to design my own. The only trouble with it is I set it to display the last four games I've played but there are only three on my list in all so that's why Halo 3 is on there twice.
My Giant Bomb gamertagI think it turned out pretty good. The fourth icon is a bit uneven but other than that it works. I know that some site has ones for the Wii but I haven't found it yet. The site I used to make this one for LIVE is http://gcdesigner.mygen.com.au/ and as long as you have the background you can just drag and drop your things on your card wherever you want. I really wish the regular gamertags were more customizable.
In my mod history news I got 16 points over the last few hours through various addition to Sting's article. I put a list of all the WCW games that he was in on his article. I can't wait until some of my other ones get submitted and I get even more points. I have a few articles written for games like Phantasy Star Online Episode I & II and Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes. Gotta say this site is gonna be great in the next few months when all this stuff comes together. Also I went back and played Batman Forever and thank goodness my sister was in the room or I would have died of confusion. I thought the controls where a perfect copy of Mortal Kombat but I was wrong...they're worse far far worse...I might have to destroy that game...or keep it and force my enemies to play it.
I should be getting a new graphics card soon so I'm gonna look into maybe Mass Effect a little later on. Well I'll talk to you guys later.
