Super Mario Land when I was 3 was the first game I played. Wario Land II was the first game I owned. Those were the great days in which my family could only afford to get me a Game Boy Color, Game Boy Advance and nothing but Mario and Wario games.
I refused to buy Skyrim in 2011 because I wanted to finish Oblivion first, but Oblivion is just so tedious to finish that I gave up and I got Skyrim this year and it blows Oblivion out of the water. The archery is actually useful, the characters don't act like they're in a cosplay convention, its far more immersive, the music doesn't suddenly change when a mudcrab shows up below me and the best advantage over Oblivion, the enemies do not level up with you, therefore making it more fun. I played everything else in 2011.
If you're a PC gamer than I strongly recommend Star Wars Best of PC which has Knights of the Old Republic, Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast, Republic Commando, Battlefront and Empire at War. If you're not a PC gamer or the games just don't work on your PC you can always get these games on Xbox with the exception of Empire at War.
Theres also Battlefront 2, KOTOR 2, Tie fighter, Jedi Academy and the three Rogue Squadron games along with a Phantom Menace spin off if you've got a Nintendo 64 or Gamecube. As for The Force Unleashed, its best you rent them first.
GTA IV - Its honestly fun at places but theres a lot wrong with it. Multiplayer was great on the other hand.
Resident Evil 5 - I enjoyed it yet it lacked the creativity of Resi 4.
Metroid Other M - Its okay, but it lacks that spirit that past Metroid games had. Like the spirit of Samus being a badass.
Super Mario 3D Land - I like it but at the end of the day it felt as if there wasn't a lot of effort put into it in comparision to NSMBWii or the Galaxy games. Also the 3D in it wasn't that effective for me. Ocarina of Time was effective in 3D but not this.
Madworld - Really repetitive.
The Force Unleashed - I refer you to Madworld. Decent story however.
The Force Unleashed II - Same problems, without a decent story.
