Posted here a while ago about my running journey and wanted to share that I'm running a year long challenge to raise money for Special Effect hopefully ending at the London Marathon in 2018. Made a lil video to explain.
Doublefine are currently raising for Special Effect through the Amnesia Bundle on Humble and they're an awesome charity helping disabled kids play video games!
If you fancy donating to the cause that'd be awesome and if you have any tips of sharing this wider in the gaming community that would be ace!
@auto: Hey man! Cheers for that glad you like them. Oh not sure about the north run, it's a half marathon isn't it? I mean I only just hit my 5K. Maybe I could be ready for September but it's a bit of a big task i reckon. Are you running it?
Yeah running with the podcasts is ace as they're long enough that i dont need to worry about switching tracks when I'm out and just being able to laugh when you run makes the whole thing that little bit easier! Did you catch that Beastcast when that duder was doing a run and they kept giving him support throughout the podcast! I'd totally need that If i was doing the North Run!!! :)
@thatlad: hey! 3 times a week and just started with interval training. It's supposed to be 10 weeks, but Saturday was the end of week 7 and I just wanted to see how far I could go! It wasn't fun at all I can tell you, but with a beast or bombcast on it's fun!
So I have a feeling that during a series of Alt-F1, D+D had a running club on the go where we could all dive in and join along (not that I ever did ha)
Anyway, I've recently started on a weight loss and running kick (lost 12 lbs in 7 weeks, started at 17 stone and just ran my first 5K non-stop this weekend) and wondered if any other duders were doing the same, were already runners or if anyone had always wanted to start but hadn't. I've got a blog and a link to my site is in my profile if you're interested in how I'm getting on.
Would anyone be keen to start a Giant Bomb run club? Or know if one is already started? Would be ace for us all to cheer each other on and log our miles together. Plus I can imagine it being another way for those without streaming gear to fund raise when extra life comes around. I could even imagine some kind of challenges we could set like running virtual world distances.... the Skyrim 10K from Whiterun to Windhelm? The GTA 5 marathon?
Let me know your thoughts and I'd love to kick something like this off with anyone who is interested!
