Seems like a great reason for me to jump back in. I REALLY enjoyed what I played of it, but other games just started taking up it's time (I'm looking at you Diablo 3: RoS Seasons).
People were really too hard on this game, and with the price tag I can at least understand why; but with this going free-to-play I honestly think everyone should give it a shot. It might surprise the lot of you.
Probably, and no. There are plenty of legitimate "YouTube Influencers" that take their position very seriously and shouldn't be dismissed so easily. Northernlion is one of those individuals that enforces disclosure, and on top of all that, approaches his "let's play" and "journalistic" stances with humor and composure. Totalbiscuit is another individual that comes to mind that does the same. I'd trust him a lot more than I would the majority of "journalists" simply because of his values and stances on a lot of today's "hot button issues."
Always saddens me when people mistrust a large breadth of people simply based on a select few that may not be transparent enough. Mostly because, as a person that once thought that way, I have found a lot more (personally) informative approaches to gaming as a whole than I would in a typical gaming site.
I enjoy my Chromebook, but if you're looking for anything more than something for documentation/media I'd give it a pass. Other than that, though, as long as (most) of what you do is through websites then you are just fine. It works like a charm, is small, and is a breeze to carry around. They can be a bit sluggish, though, when it comes to multitasking. Having multiple tabs open can tax the system.
I think the saddest part of it all is that people seem quite jaded about it. It happens so often that we almost kind of expect such a behavior. I truly wish there was a (cost-effective) way to pursue these sort of threats and somehow make the perpetrator pay for it. I don't know if jail time is quite necessary, but some sort of slap on the hands that leaves a mark would be nice. Of course there is always the people in other countries, but at least something would be better than our nations authorities apathy towards it.
I think it's great. Blizzard rarely seems to disappoint, and whatever crack team they have researching what best theme/style game or cinematic they should make needs a heavy raise. Having followed and played the game, I guess I don't understand the contradicting notion it's seeming to portray. I thought the cinematics fit the universe well.
Doesn't involve politics, but the "theme" (artstyle/etc) of The Binding of Isaac turned me off. I truly enjoyed the game for a day or two when it first released, and then gave it another shot when it was rereleased, but the theme just doesn't sit well with me. It's gross and, as much as I wish I could ignore that, I just can't.
I would just choose from the plethora of non-competitive FPS games. I, to, suffer from anxiety when it comes to playing competitive games; and I'm 27. It sucks, but I have found that the longer I play competitive games and end up "losing," the more I get frustrated and worked up. It sucks and, as of now, I have not found any kind of therapy to fix it. Just for reference, I really like to play Heroes of the Storm, but have found that after 1 or 2 games my blood pressure actually rises even if I'm winning and performing well. Maybe a performance anxiety?
Maybe sit down with him and help him build confidence in himself. I know that a lot of times when I played, as a teen, with some of my more mellow friends I enjoyed myself a lot more.
EDIT: Just to clarify, I don't get "angry" or "upset." I just get overwhelmed. It's kind of like stage-fright but in video game form.
