The "Dan doesn't know the simplest shit" thing has jumped the shark so hard for me. Either it's a bit which has long run its course or Dan really has been so aloof his whole life that it really is a miracle he's where he is in his life right now.
Comparing wrestling titles with lead acting roles was actually a pretty good way to explain it to non-fans. They're also pretty much plot devices to either add more stakes to a storyline or to just give a reason these wrestlers are having a match if there is no existing angle.
@embryonic: Yeah, when he got there I was like "this is gonna take a while" and then Shep Shep whips out the portable nuke because she's got shit to do.
@transit4080: I'm still stunned that didn't leak or Keanu didn't just casually mention in an interview "Yeah, I'm doing some cyberpunk video game. It's cool." It was a welcome legitimate surprise in a time where nothing is surprising anymore.
Phil talking about not wanting to talk about details until he feels things are on solid ground is refreshing. Too often the hype machine is overstuffed with promises that are very difficult to keep and leads to shit like neverending crunch to reach those goals or quality in another area being sacrificed leading to the overall product suffering. I'd rather hear guys like Phil be honest and realistic in what they want to accomplish and, like he said, not having to come back in six months and say "Yeah, that awesome stuff ain't happening, sorry." It really seems like he personally took the lessons of the XBone launch to heart and wants to do the complete opposite going forward.
I know these things are basically big rallies to show off how awesome your company is, but this one seemed REALLY manipulative. Like Jeff said, they laid shit on REALLY thick over a lot of it and it felt like they were treating their audience like idiots (hey, killing Nazis is REALLY, REALLY FUCKING COOL RIGHT?! HUH?!)
Two words will kneecap Stadia for most of the country: data caps. With games pushing the 100 gig barrier and just getting bigger, streaming them just seems like a really fast way to blow through your cap and incur the extra charges which cuts into the value proposition of this whole thing.
