Yeah this is an interesting move for sure. It's too early for the final verdict but my first impressions are positive I would say. This might potentially help raise the quality of the mods overall but I think it's going to come down to pricing on the modders' part. In any case, good for the modders, they deserve to get paid for their work considering the complexity of some of the stuff out there. Many of these people are clearly professionals.

But as @notnert427 pointed out, many people who use mods use them in bulks and while the donation idea sounds good on paper I doubt it would be enough to compensate the modders for their work as it would be too much to ask of a person to donate for all the mods they are using, which is why I'm speculating much of it will boil down the the price of the paid mods. If anything we can expect to see a rise in quality of the paid mods.

That being said, it is the most satisfying thing seeing all the knee-jerk reactions to this. Much like that Monument Valley DLC controversy-thingy and the mobile game's market it's all about set expectations. We'll see how this works out.

Since we are talking about premium subscriptions.

I have been a sub for almost up to a year now. Can't check for how long right now as the "Billing History" link seems to be grayed out but I suppose it's been about 9 to 11 months. Do I automatically get the gold medal as soon as the 12th monthly fee is billed?

Yeah that's too much. I would be okay with it if they like came out and said they did all they could and it still ended up 60 gigs. But yeah, that's too much.

When you aren't actively enjoying a game the bad parts of it are more glaring but when you are it's easy to overlook the shortcomings of it because you've already found something to like about it. Most of the time when you hear people complaining about how shitty a game is on the internet, and I say most of the time, their complaints and criticisms are synonymous with ''I DON'T LIKE THIS GAME AND HERE IS WHY YOU SHOULDN'T AS WELL''. It's not to say all their points are invalid but that's what they usually mean and that's why I would always listen to criticism about a game from someone who has actually found something to like about that game just so I can be sure they are not shitting on it because they don't enjoy the thing in the first place. And usually it's some very specific part of the game they don't like or for very specific reason and it's way overblown. It's very subjective. That's why I don't really believe there are any objectively shitty games out there. Just the ones that hardly have anything to like about them and is considered "bad" by consensus. Dear Esther for instance is a great example. I really really liked that game but within the boundaries of the medium I agree it wasn't especially a good game. Not that it wasn't enjoyable but because it didn't play to the strengths of the medium. I think those are the only cases where you can objectively say when a game isn't good.

So yeah. It's okay to not enjoy a game but as long as you can elaborately articulate why you don't and it's not some desperate attempt to be different then it's fine with me. Jeff's attitude for instance would instantly grate me if I encountered it with a person in real life but because 99 percent of the time he can give sensible reasons as to why he doesn't enjoy a game after willingly giving it a shot (e.g Bloodborne), it doesn't really bother me.

@rincewind: That's some good detective work right there. Science bitch.

That said, my main weapon is the Heide Sword and I can't really say it breaks that easily, although that's probably because it's a durable weapon and not that I'm not also experiencing this weird bug. I just carry around a Repair spell with me at all times anyway.

It was the Kerbal Space Program Quick Look I believe. Not around the time that was posted but later, which led me here. Been a huge fan ever since. That QL was the best. They had Snider in as a guest.

This might be a 2016 release.
