Knetic2341: Best of 2009

List items

  • Assassin's Creed II has to be one of the most improved titles over an original. Adding some more gameplay changes to the franchise, Ubisoft has made the Assassin's Creed franchise more diverse and less repetitive in nature. The story of Assassin's Creed II is one of the best this year, boasting with revenge and family, Ezio's story is a truly unique experience. Some clunky controls, made this game a bit frustrating, but overall a much more real and fluid game then the original.

  • Call me weird, but The Beatles: Rock Band, is probably one of the only games I truly enjoyed this year. Harmonix, undoubtedly gaming's best rhythm-game developer, made the Beatles journey, from a small venue to the Apple Corps. rooftop, a fab one. The quality of Beatles songs on here are unrivaled, with The Beatles: Rock Band, having the best set list of any rhythm game.

  • Unparalleled graphics. Great gameplay. Fantastic characters and cutscenes that blend cinema and game into a blur. Naughty Dog's action-adventure game, is one of the best games to be on the Playstation 3, and easily one of the best games this year.

  • A Crack in Time is game unlike any I played. Maybe its because it's my first Ratchet & Clank title. Maybe because it's a great platformer. Maybe it's because this game is just plain fun. Either way, Ratchet & Clank Future: A Crack in Time is just a pure fun and enjoyable game that is extremely humorous. Story telling is also strong, and the Clank time puzzles are mind bending, and has to be the best part of the game.

  • NHL 10, is the most refined, and best controlling Hockey game available. With great improvements such as Board play, this is one sports game, your sure to buy.

  • A game that got a hold of me out of nowhere. Knowing little about the game other then the title, a trailer for the game got me hooked for the games release, and nothing was better than celebrating Rocktober by playing Brutal Legend.

  • Since finishing New Super Mario Bros. for the DS, I have been waiting for a new 2D Mario game. New Super Mario Bros. Wii definitely delivered. Starting my gaming career playing Mario Bros. and duck hunt on the NES, 2D Mario games are my favorite. Keeping the same formula, has always been good. Like this title.

  • Adding upon an already solid GTA IV, Episodes from Liberty City, gives you the two DLC add-ons that were released via download on the Xbox Live Marketplace, on a single disc.

  • Red Faction: Guerrilla is a game that was not hyped, not bought, and certainly not a huge success. With all of that, a truly great third person shooter lay beneath that all. Guerrilla is part of the larger Red Faction series, of which I have not played. Coming into playing this, I was surprised as how the game played and felt, only having word of mouth and demo time in my decision purchase. Guerrilla was certainly a smart buy in a time where games don't usually come out. The only thing left to mention is Ostrich Hammer FTW.

  • Killzone 2...where are you? Oh! There you are way back in February of this year. Sort of overlooked by gaming critics, by what I assume to be an early release, Killzone 2 deserves its credit. An O.K. campaign along with addictive multiplayer that keep me, and certainly more hooked for the duration of its release. Killzone 2 is one of this years stronger PS3 releases.
