Frantic Screenshot uploading isn't how to score them big points.

When I registered on this awesome site, I immediately started to add submissions. I have added games, concepts, written blurbs, uploaded images and even written a couple of semi-lengthy articles as well.

Unfortunately, my submissions were left in pending mode, and nothing happened for a long time, and then I got about four minor ones approved. I have since then added a bunch of stuff, and nothing had been touched, some almost going on three days, so I began to worry.
Regardless of the pending status I have been adding a heck of a lot of screen shots as well. Almost every screen I have added have been to games that nobody had previously given any. some of these have been processed and I could gather about 400 points doing this.

Now, finally my submissions are finally beginning to getting the approved status, and I just noticed that my Points have shot up to over 1,500. Just like that, BAM!!
So, what did I learn? Screen shots can be fun to upload, they get submitted at a faster pace and you are giving color and meaning to otherwise empty game spaces, but damn doing Wiki edits is the sure way to get the big bucks.

Now, after crossing that magic line I can finally start doing more serious and lengthy articles.

This event also confirmed my strong suspicion that the assertion given that Submissions are approved in the order of which they were added is false. Most of my approved submissions are the more recent ones.

Almost all of my points are from screenshots, but I'm taking a break from them so I can start doing some more serious editing. Also I don't want to be seen as a "points whore" so I'm slowing it down a tad.

I've been waiting since the site opened to have mine approved, so getting yours approved finally gives me hope.

Yeah, I don't want to sound like a points whore or anything but I've had a ton of submissions and only a couple have gone though. I'm more concerned with just quickly getting accurate data up on these game pages.

Why are you so afraid to be a Points whore? I have been a complete and utter points whore since the minute I signed up to this fantastic website. I very much wanted to cross the 1,000 mark as fast as possible, so I could have the freedom to spend time writing serious articles about games, and not have to wait days and days for it to by then, be rejected.

I agree with Kowalski. Don't be afraid to edit! That's the point of this site and they need as many contributions as they can get! The way I see it, it's like a game. The more points you get the better off the site is.

I know what you mean.  Lots of my small additions have been approved, but very few of my larger ones like game additions to the database have not been yet.

I have a few subs and alot of images pending...
Though when I think of a game to go edit it usually has a huge page of info already I feel like "ah, why bother". Maybe I'm not fast enough haha.
Oh well... I suppose eventually I'll make it to 1000 points.

Once you get past 1,000 points you are free to write good wiki articles, before then you feel almost forced to submit screenshots as they give you a fair amount of points quickly. The first day I got a total of 20 points, while the second day when i figured out screenshots where faster I got 920. Now that I'm 1,000 I could make quality wiki articles and not have to worry about the queues, or mistakes in the article, as I can just change it a second after I submit it if I see error afterwords.

Now that I hit 1,000 points, I lost all interest in points. I just wanted the freedom that 1,000 points gave me. I intend to drop off the top users list asap, however things I submitted the day the site launched are just now getting approved and so I also have been shooting up in points even though I'm taking a break.

dudewhat, you just wrote everything I just intended to write just now. I too have now no interest in photo posting.,but I have posted many photos since I've been given live editing privileges, but that's because I want to and sometimes it's needed. My interest for points is completely gone as well, now I want to write good articles.

I just finished my first full article posting, over on the Castlevania franchise page.   ^_^ Wooheee.
Unfortunately  I don't have permission change Box Art pictures. It shoulnd't be Aria of Sorrow boxarts...

A fare warning, in my previous blog post below this one, coonce wrote thatd ue to a stability issue that resulted in activites pending getting lost. How many I don't know but it must have been quite alot.. I made several article postings that day that took some serious time. So maybe you can't sit around and wait for your wiki edits getting approved, because they might not exist anymore :(.

coonce posting in the blog earlier:
"heads up - earlier in the week (like wednesday) we had to delete all activity on the site. it was due to a stability issue on our end which has now been fixed. so, any activity you had before we made that delete will be gone - just a heads up."

Congrats. Yes they did address that some submissions are categorized  differently so therefore modded differently. Blurbs, pics, character, concept ect are one section. Images another. And main articles another. So when you may get credited for a character upload at one time, you still have to wait for that article mod.

Or were your articles modded in the wrong order?

Actually, I can tell for a fact that wiki's a sorted on a first come first serve bases, however to avoid having mods "step on eachother's toe" we have to have separate mods working on different pages of the queue.

I'm actually surprised how fast my subs have been approved...I mean, all 18 of my images that I subbed were either approved or rejected at once.

I have to completely agree with you on this. It's cool to that the site values your original creations over stuff that you just download and repost. I've been hooked on editing the Wiki for the last week. I'm new to the site, and the Wiki has really become my niche.
