They where given a nice chunk of money a wile ago. "
They almost certainly were not "given" money. They were loaned money...if what you're talking about is venture capital. You're supposed to make that back, and hand it all over to the venture capitalist. If you're lucky, you might even get to keep your company after you pay back the VCs. Usually, they take control and you may or may not be given a position on the board of directors.
Look folks, this site was going to be an "advertisement site" from the moment the site was started. Notice you're not paying a membership fee. Where do you think the money and resources come from? They are selling your attention.
That is not to say that you can't enjoy the site - I certainly do. This is also not to say that the reviews are (intentionally) skewed by advertising revenue. They may or may not be (skepticism is healthy, no matter what the staff say). But they make money by occupying your eyeballs for a time. It is the nature of the beast. it is the nature of the world. Stop whining or go read a book.
I just started playing this game last week. It starts off in such an opaque fashion that I thought it was a waste of money after about 10 minutes. After keeping with it and penetrating the enormous barrier to entry, I have found it to be a rather fun game. There are only a couple of problems. 1) The story is incredibly hard to follow and has the same slow pacing problem that most strategy RPGs seem to have and 2) once you have the game "figured out", there doesn't seem to be a whole lot to it. It is certainly unique though, and the gameplay is fun enough to make it satisfying in short bursts. I seem to be about 25% into the game. It will be interesting to see if the gameplay gets any deeper.
I am not going to scan through the comments for the inevitable anti-liberal/conservative political crap, but I do want to stress that not all professors are hippies that don't know when to keep their opinions to themselves. I truly hope our conservative friends don't use this incident to build up a straw-man caricature of higher education.
Stop fetishizing numbers. Play games you like. Read reviews to determine whether you will likely enjoy a game. If anything, scores should only give a snap impression of the quality of a game, not be used to rank them.
Honestly, I would prefer if games were reviewed on a 3 point scale. Bad, Good, or Meh.
In my line of work, I meet a lot of people from other countries. None of them have ever said that they wish their country had American-style health care. We are generally viewed as being bass-ackwards on health care.
For those of you out there that have been consuming right-wing media incessantly: try just talking to people from countries with publicly supported health care. Don't read polls. Don't listen to Rush. Just talk to be people. Ask them whether they think their country's health care is superior to the U.S. You might be surprised at how many are happy with universal care. And even for those who aren't happy, you would be surprised to hear the diversity of opinions. You might be shocked to learn that Canada, the U.K., Sweden, France, etc. are still viable, stable countries with good life expectancies and functional health systems. To hear Glen Beck tell it, those countries are failing cesspools of jackboot communism. Please...just question the right-wing histrionics! I am not suggesting you even give up your conservative viewpoint. Just, for Christ's sake, QUESTION the party line!
