@notlikelytocare: Brodehouse has been trolling this thread for 8 pages and no one is getting it - it takes one (admittedly, terrible due to the way the search engine works) search of his forum history to find his posts about the matter when it initially arised, where he basically said that video games can never grow as a form of artistic expression if they aren't allowed to touch upon specific topics and that the usage of those topics should be based on what said usage entails, not on the fact that they were used at all.
I'm repeating things I read in more direct language. People were talking about how it wasn't necessary, so I talked about how it wasn't necessary. People talked about about if it's not done intelligently and responsibly than it doesn't need to exist, so I talked about that. People talked about how suspicious the kind of people who defend this are, so I talked about that.
I mean, these are all very admirable and moral positions, are they not? Failure to condemn this scene in the strongest terms possible while it contributes to exclusion and fostering a community of violence would be a scandal; art is a portion of our culture, and if we allow violent sexual content from foreign countries, we're symbolically supporting it as part of our culture and heritage! Is that your culture? That's not my culture. We must pull evil up by the root, before it chokes out the flower of our culture and heritage!
Your intentions are good but they're blinding you to what is actually right and wrong.
I don't really get what you mean. What is right and what is wrong?
