The interesting thing for me on Dans questionnaire bits is so many of those are things taught in elementary school. Which in turn makes me wonder how the US education system works. Is it teaching pupils to just pass exams?
Then I remember people like Vinny who has amazing grasp on things from so wide variety things that it cannot be just that..
When ever the crew goes down the hole on old game music I feel the urge to fall into a pit of my own.
Super Cars 2 and Toki have so much good memories associated for those to ever get old to my ears, Turrican 2 I've thought about getting from somewhere again since I never actually had it legally on A500 (and I was unable to finish the game).
Extremely tempted to get this as a time sink game. I'm on the same boat as many here about wanting to get a old junker at some point just to be able to rebuild the thing in order to learn. So far the dream has eluded me as I don't have a garage.
Also now I want to watch Mark Evans' series A Car Is Born and A Car Is reborn again (highly recommend these).
I kinda forgot the worry about games rotting after hooking up my old Amiga 500 after 20 or so years and realising that nearly all of the floppies I still had left worked jut fine.
@jeff There is a easy solution for your amp problem, connect 4k sources directly to the TV with HDMI and connect them to the amp with an optical cable.
I faced same problem with the PS4 Pro a while back and this seemed way more sensible than buying a 4K A/V amplifier.
Holy crap those console versions of Turrican looked crap - and completely different games from the ones on Amiga. No wonder @jeff (and anyone in their right mind) would think of them as generic junk.
I have only quickly touched Turrican 1 but Turrican 2 still is one of personal favourites, still boot that one up occasionally and the soundtrack has taken place on active playlist for eternity.
@tepidshark - I'm not sure about the 4k thing either. But personally I am interested in getting a new TV for HDR. Just to get more "vivid" image quality. Last time I checked the prices surprisingly didn't seem as crazy as I imagined (and @vinny seems to imagine). Sonys 55 inch models can be bought over here for about €1 000. Still it's that and the price for the pro console on top so I haven't been convinced to throw my money at this yet.
In the end I see this as different from 3D - a continuation on getting image quality better.
Regarding the grim nature of Scandinavians; I dont think snow has anything to do with it. Instead having a long winter with three months of hardly any sunlight is more likely the root of this. From November to February it's like living in a deep cold cave if there is no snow.
