Deus Ex 3: First Details Surface

Full Post: HERE.

I am a huge fan of the Deus Ex series and even really enjoyed the second game, which wasn't regarded too highly among the press and fans alike. I remember when Deus Ex 3 was first announced I felt ecstatic that the series was still alive, but worried since wasn't a part of the project. Finally some real details on the game have arrived and things are shaping up to satisfy...well, at least satisfy me.

What do you need to know? Well the game is going to be a prequel set in the year 2027 and you play as a normal (like you or me) security officer for a technology lab. The rest of the story hasn't been detailed too much, but it's being written by the original writer (from Deus Ex) so I think the game is in good hands...

Pretty excited for this as well. Although I wasn't a huge fan of the second game, I'd gladly revisit that world. The first game ranks as one of my all time favs.

I love Deus Ex 2.  That game has so much successful ambition going for it design-wise that most games today don't even come close to approaching.

It's nice to see other people excited for the game...I was really worried about this game before these details surfaced. Thought that we might get a game on par with F.E.A.R Files (which was awful).

Cool, I didn't even know Deux Ex 3 had been announced. Though I didn't really like the second one, the first one is probably among my favorite games.

But, if we'll play just as your average Joe, does that mean there'll be no implants and such? I'm curioius to see what they'll do.

@zitosilva: Well there aren't the same augmentations found in the previous games since this is a prequel and set just before they started being implemented...but there are still augmentations in this game (20 guaranteed) such as this quote shows:

"Augmentations have been bumped up and sound fantastic. 20 have been promised for the final game, ranging from 'bungee jump' tentacles that shoot from your back and anchor to a wall when you jump off a building, and the ability to punch through walls to grab enemies in neighbouring rooms."

...so you do get you hands on this technology, but the details as to how you get them hasn't been revealed to my knowledge.

I played the first Deus Ex on my old pc, Deus Ex: Invisible War I played on my Xbox and I liked them both. Of course, I liked the first one more, but I thought the second one was underrated. I'm looking forward to a new game in the Deus Ex franchise, count me in.

Looks good, not familiar with it. Is it FPS?

@The_Icon: ...it is a FPS game, but it has never been a traditional FPS-type game. If you don't mind extremely dated graphics then I recommend picking up the original and playing through it. It's absolutely fantastic, one of the best games I've ever played.
