Pre ordered (steam) and I'm overall very excited but i'm a little worried that the PC interface is gonna suck.

Based on various youtube videos, there's a ton of clicking on buttons / confirmation dialogs. Hopefully there are more keyboard shortcuts.

There's also the PAR from Ben Kechura, who says "I would rather have direct control of the camera to look around the battlefield instead of placing the cursor on the edges of the screen to move the view". You can see the pain in various preview videos of the PC interface, where the player is fighting the camera to get placement of a soldier/grenade right; moving your mouse to place a grenade / move a soldier causes scrolling or clipping so you can no longer select that placement. It looked painful. Either way, the PC can still use the controller interface so it'll be no worse than consoles.

Forget X-COM. Bases and action figure soldiers?! This is the GI JOE game I've wanted for all these years!

Add in destructible terrain, RPG levelling, strategic layer, story... Q3 is how many months away again? My excitement needs to be curbed lest this doesn't pan out as much as my heart wants it to...

Purely economically, you get (correct me if I'm wrong here):

  • 4 Homies
  • 3 Vehicles
  • 3 Masks
  • 1 Suit
  • 6 Missions

All for around 2 hours of gameplay. If you loved strapping it on this much, I'd say you probably already bought the Season Pass. I definitely do not consider it worth the non-discounted price.

I noticed in the intro one of the tickers says something along the lines of "People are questioning if Johnny Gat is really dead," which gives me hope that the upcoming Clone-themed DLC has some sweet Johnny Gat action.

I was also in the disbelief + denial camp of Johnny Gat's demise, but here's hoping that with enough fan demand, he'll make an appearance in #4.

Also, can't wait to get home and Bowl me some Genki

Pre-order discount offer is back, 15% off: http://store.steampowered.com/app/57740/. And with an actual release date (Feb 9), this probably won't be vapourware. No guarantees about crapware though...

As a huge JA fanboy, I'll still probably pick this up. It's just that JA2 1.13 adds so much gameplay that probably won't be replicated in this rerelease; it'll be like going back to GTA 3 after playing GTA V.

68. People in Steelport are way richer than in Stillwater; almost everyone has a luxury car.

@Kazzurak:

Wow I actually had a completely different read on how the story played out. I overall enjoyed the other gangs' stories.

  • Phillipe killed by boulder: I did not see that one coming. He seems more of a businessman than a badass anyway so any fight would've been easy.
  • Kiki DeWynter getting Killbane'd: didn't see that one either. And it established KB as a violent psycho. Good stuff.
  • Viola joining me: meh, didn't care much for her. Sacha Grey's voice acting was a little flat too :|
  • Beating Matt in VR: well, I kicked his ass on his own turf. And the actual fight was fun, if easy

Unfortunately, I didn't really care for any of my lieutenants except for Gat, who eats it in the first 10 mins. So that part was kinda weak and made me far less invested in the story than in SR2. That was the biggest disappointment for me, story-wise.

Loving it.

  • Took a bit of getting used to as the cars feel very heavy and understeery compared to SR2. Tweaking camera control settings to "Delayed" helped as did upgrading cars.
  • First mission bank robbery and the airplane (from the trailers) was somewhat boring
  • Story is not as interesting as SR2 :|
  • Dialog for the cockney accent doesn't sound as badass as SR2 :|
  • Character creator isn't as robust as SR2. Why can't I be scrawny?
  • Lots of way more convenient things in the game make it more fun than SR2 like being able to call for cars, buying your bonuses (instead of completing activities to unlock), tighter driving + shooting, etc.
  • Old activities are fun, new ones are funner. Love Professor Genki's activity. :D

@AhmadMetallic: My understanding from this is that it's mainly a digital distribution mechanism. So basically, an easy way for developers to get their games through a digital channel (file hosting, version management, pricing, region locking, Steam-as-DRM, etc.).

To us, that basically means "you need Steam to play".

The Steam page for SR3 lists Steam Cloud support, which means your saves can be stored online and accessed from your account on multiple computers. Does anyone know if SR3 also has Steam Achievements?
