I remember thinking it was a great game that just ran terribly without being a graphical powerhouse on consoles. I'm excited to see this coming to PC.
Yup, I felt like it had a lot of really cool stuff in it but it looked like trash and ran even worse. Also the lack of fast travel was pretty terrible sometimes. But man, the story of that game is insane in a way that I can really appreciate.
@Mike: I really don't have a clue then, it just unlocked for me hand-in-hand with the unit. More mystery to this game than I thought. Is it possible all of your crew are assigned to Combat Missions? If so of course your Character list will be empty. Maybe @larrydavis knows how the unlock works or @quid_pro_bono does, I saw him saying he plays as combat unit people sometimes.
Yeah I think you can do that as soon as you have the combat unit. The green text specifically says it's for "security team", which is the crew you assign to defend your FOB. Its icon is a shield.
Mission 11: Just order supply drops on Quiet's location after you mark her, and keep popping up and aiming really fast so she shoots at you and doesn't move. Each one that lands on her takes off half her nonlethal bar. Easy S rank. I knew this would work because I had a supply drop hit me on the head like a dipshit earlier. :V
@geraltitude: Actually the green text means you can equip your FOB crew with them. If you play as any of the other soldiers, they can equip anything Snake can.
The review event for this game ends up looking pretty bad, reviewers assigning a score and recommendation while bypassing much of the actual game play and challenge. I've also heard that many of them didn't see significant portions of the story (up to and including the ending!) or any of the microtransaction stuff. I was a little surprised to see Gamespot reviewing a game in this way, sending their "Crazy Metal Gear Guy" Peter Brown to handle it, but I guess I shouldn't be too surprised as they probably want the traffic that day -7 10/10 review would bring, which is presumably quite a bit.
I'm usually not one to suspect impropriety wherever I look in the games press, but all these early reviews seem like huge ads to me. Just contributing to the whole "SHUT UP AND TAKE MY MONEY" "THROWING MY WALLET AT THE SCREEN" "TAKE ALL MY MONEY" internet consumer culture I guess.
Yup, it's highly suspect and I personally would not trust any of the reviews that were formulated under such conditions.
This has resulted in the most PSN friends I've ever had, by a large margin. The downside: now there are several people who can see how much time I'm sinking into One Piece Pirate Warriors 3.
If anyone really thinks Venom Snake is actually Big Boss, they are extremely gullible. I know someone who, every time I bring up the arm/shrapnel/scarring, keeps falling back to "Kojima said he would be fine with retconning stuff and also you don't really SEE Boss's arm!!"
It was smart of Kojima to throw up that smokescreen, I guess. As to who, exactly, Venom is, I'm not sure. The Grey Fox theory is idiotic, and it can't be someone from outside MSF or Kaz and Ocelot wouldn't help them. Maybe another, age-accelerated clone? The helicopter medic whose voice is a pitch-shifted Keifer (this would also be mega stupid)?
Whoever it is, it seems obvious that Bandage Man is the real Big Boss, as he was voiced by Keifer as well.
