@squidracerx: I appreciate you pointing out where Abby and Jeff have mentioned their comments on covering the game because I never saw these statements on the game. I totally get the mindset of not covering a game because of the developer, but I do feel like there is a fine line. It goes back to the age old discussion of whether controversial creators and their art can stand separately. I think it warrants coverage, but I understand it. You can't force people to cover games they don't support and aren't even interested in. I'm just personally bummed because I think the game is really cool, and I wanted to hear my favorite games people talk about it.
I feel the same way about Vampyr not being mentioned here as well. I understand Giant Bomb GOTY isn't a perfect process, and not all our favorite games can get talked about. Just wanted to put my feelings out there.
I am incredibly disappointed in the omission of Kingdom Come: Deliverance. I know this game is pretty niche in that it's a sim game, and it also had controversy around the main developer guy. I mean come on, though. I think it has plenty of flaws and can be cumbersome to play, but this game is none other than noteworthy.
I don't know if I'm being a little crazy, but it seems like this game has been intentionally omitted from discussion all year long. It seems unbelievable that out of every game that every staff member played, this wasn't touched once to warrant a discussion for GOTY categories or a blip on a podcast. Maybe I missed something they did on a podcast, but out of all the big games this year I feel like this hangs right there with many of them.
