Regarding Ben's comments on the impenetrability of Blaseball and whether the hardcore fans want or need that impenetrability, I wanted to mention as someone who is literally in a Discord server that is dedicated to writing fan fiction and fan wiki entries for the Chicago Firefighters team and players while the game is on siesta that my enjoyment would not be (and has not been) lessened by more people getting into Blaseball at various levels of engagement.
I started following following Blaseball during its second week, and joined the official Discord server during the third week, and we are generally super welcoming to new fans and everyone is more than eager to help people get up to speed, and you can have a ton of fun never really interacting with the fan fiction side of things by just hanging out in watch party channels cheering for your favorite team during games with fan made chants and hype GIFs for specific players. New fans are still joining the Blaseball server right now, even when literally no Blaseball is happening! It's wild!
Heck, like 90% of my involvement with the fan lore side of things is just shouting things in all caps in watch party and making silly GIFs until someone writes about it on the wiki, like how I started yelling about how I was gonna ground Declan Suzanne (Chicago's worst player) from playing Fortnite and how I was gonna throw his Xbox into Lake Michigan whenever he let the team down, until that became the basis for his entire fan lore.
Ben is leaving Giant Bomb on such an amazingly high note, this series easily ranks in the pantheon of amazing Giant Bomb shows. Can not wait for further adventures down the Rogue Hole
