I am now a full time student with 3 jobs

I think when University starts back up next week it'll be a hell of a shock to my system. During term time my tutoring uptake effectively doubles and I give guitar, bass, piano, voice and music theory lessons to fellow students at the University, as well as my usual cast of kids in the local community -- generally I have 14 hours of tuition a week. I'm also a waiter in restaurant in evenings for about 12 hours a week and I have just been offered a job in a music store in Glasgow at another 16 hours a week. 42 working hours a week, on top of a full time Masters course at University -- it doesn't bear thinking about.

Anyone else suffering on a similar boat? More over, does anyone have any advice for juggling such a life?

Dude that sounds very scary, I am the exact opposite of that, as I'm unemployed and have deferred my place to Cinema & Photography at Leeds Uni until 2010

I'm a full time student with no job, my own place and everything and I have no money issues at all, infact I safe up atleast 100 euro a month. Although in all honesty I do have a loan of 150 euro a month, but all the other money comes from the government and with that I can pay rent, electric/gas bill etc etc. Add to that my 3 weeks summerjob (about 1100 euro) and I'm currently at about 2000 euro in savings, if you consider that when I moved into my own place (march) I had about 20 euro left at the month and during this period I've bought for about 500 euro in all sorts of stuff, another 200 for cloths, another 200 for another 360 (bedroom), went a week to England (though in all fairness I stayed with a friend so it only costed me about 350 totall, that includes everything) and right now my parts for my new PC is coming in, which set me back about 900 (Phenom 2 x3, 4890, 4 gig, G11 keyboard, MX Revolution mouse, 24 inch screen etc etc) I simply can't complain at all.
It helps ofcourse to not smoke, go out really, drive a car or anything that can really drive the costs up.

I envy you. I desperately need a job right now, as I've just graduated and I'll be getting married next summer. But yeah, trying to get a masters degree on top of all that is rough, I don't plan on doing that until I get something stable set up. Ugh, recession/economic downturn/the war economy...

I think giving music lessons would be a pretty cool job as well as working in a music shop, but then again along with school that is a pretty big load to handle.

Im gonna join the army for 14 months before I start a real education. I would like to take a BA degree in CGI here in Denmark (WUHHU) and then a MA degree in CGI in London. But those educations are pretty pricey, so I have to save some money.

Either your army never goes to war or that is very disturbing.
People come back traumatized, fighting wars is hardly "a good experience"

that is a big load of things to do. i think ushould find the job that u like more and pays more and quit one of them. it will be very hard to juggle two jobs, school, and music lessons. u also have to study and do homework.

Lol wasn't meant that way. I mean that an military education is good to have. And you learn things like teamwork and how to handle and task the best way possible. But yea some people come back traumatized and that is very horrible. But many people who has a military education can use those skills they learned in their future line of work. I admit "good experience" was a pretty bad choice of words.

I've got one job and go to school for 2 hours a day. I rehearse for 3 hours a day, but that's nowhere near what you do...

If you can handle it, good on you.  But if you start complaining you'll get no sympathy from me; you decided you wanted such a heavy workload, so if you can't handle it when it all starts up, the only person to blame is yourself...

Thankfully not quite the case. Due to so much travel, portable gaming becomes a possibility when I'm not reading books and journals - there's only so long one can look at academia before going insane! It's also great when it comes to Christmas and I have free time for some home console gaming, a backlog of stellar titles, as well as a new found appreciation for awesome home systems - which lasts all but an hour haha.

Yeah definitely, my course takes priority. Unfortunately, the jobs are a means to an end right now and hopefully will not be too permanent. As soon as I am in a comfortable situation financially I'll be cutting back hours but I'm gonna take a hell of a hit the first few weeks. Student finance exists, but it's tied to parental income - my dad received back pay this year which the government added on to his end of year salary, which meant two things - they could tax him twice on the money, and I would get screwed over with my student finance. Tuition fees are payed by a government body but because of where I stay I spend about £50 ($80-ish I think) a week on transport to University alone, not taking into consideration initial costs for books, food, travel to work, general living expenses, etc. I don't accept any contributions from my parents on principle now either. I don't think I'd have an appreciation of things if they are just handed to me on a plate -- I like to earn my plate. Which in many cases, makes me an idiot =].

University of Glasgow, Scotland. Right now, I can waste as much time as I can on the net before Monday comes along and this shit gets real. Don't suppose I'll be that active for a few months afterwards -- I only really got properly active in the community after exams this year (despite being a member since the Jeff / Ryan blogs of old =]), but I do keep my eye on the goings on and will pop back and post something from time to time.

My Name Was Endo-.. Err, whut?

@Lashe: I don't know how Master's programs are there, but the one I'm currently in basically is a 50-60 hour a week full-time job if you include teaching assistantship duties. It sounds to me like you're taking on an impossible load. At a certain point you need to decide between sleep and a little extra money. It sounds like music is a real passion of yours, so I wouldn't quit any of that stuff, but why are you torturing yourself with that 12 hour a week waiter job? You need at least a little time to relax and sleep, but your current agenda doesn't appear to give you any time for that.

Unless you are the main supporter of a family, all these jobs really are not  necessary; your main focus should be on your studies at school. Unless you want to be a waiter all your life I suggest you drop a few jobs and get real.

Good luck.
