I'm surprised that no one brought up the best Mystery Dungeon game: Shiren the Wanderer on the DS. I spent hundreds of hours on it, easily, and I would spend hundreds more if they released it for the Switch.

The New Game+ question is a good one, and the answer is Chrono Trigger. Chrono Trigger has the best New Game+: you start a new game with all your gear, levels, and skills. There's a portal in the first town that warps you to the last boss. You can do it at any point in the game's story, and get a different ending depending on when you do it. It's amazing. You can even beat the game while the main character is dead. I think there are ten endings in all, and my brother and I spent a ton of time trying to find them all back in 1995. Nothing's come close to it since then.
