My first RRoD.

Welp, yesterday it happened. My 360 RRoD'd. Typical, I was just starting dig the console after it got barely used for some months. Bought Reach, a 3 months subscription and had to review Blade Kitten on it. That's not gonna happen now. Bummer.

Looking into what options I have now. Warranty is gone I think, so I don't really know what I can do with it for free/on a discount/ whatever.

Still kind of proud it took my like 2 years before it actually busted down.

@Launch: Depending on when your system was manufactured, you may still be able to send it in for free repairs since it died a RRoD related death.

(There should be a sticker on the back. If it says it was made in 2007 or later, you have a shot.)

Yeah if it's an early enough model, they extend the warranty for you since it is RRoD.

Indeed they do!  I've had two of my 360's replaced because of the 3 year RRoD warranty extension.  Good times!

I just had my RRoD 360 fixed under the extended three year warranty. http://myservice.xbox.com makes it very easy to see if you're still covered, take a moment to check it out, it could save you a ton of money. The site will first tell you your normal warranty has expired, but choose the "repair at your own cost" option, and then specify your RRoD type, and it will let then let you know if the three-year warranty extension still is available to your console.

I got two, first time I bought another cheap xbox second time I sent it for repairs under warranty and it was pretty quick longest time was that UPS or Microsoft didn't even attempt to spell my address right for the return and it ended up in Dublin instead of Donegal. On the flip side I played the shit outta my PS3 for the week or something it took, maybe two cant remember.

Actually since you mentioned it both of my consoles lasted 2 years before RROD.

Thanks a lot for the help, guys! I'll look into it as soon as I can and hope I can still get it fixed for free.

And yeah, there's a bunch of typo's in the blogpost, but I was at work, pretty tired and English isn't my native language, so some mistakes made it in there.
