I describe games based on their primary mechanics and features. Bioshock Infinite while being quite adventurous and having magical hand powers is still to me, "a shooter". When the most common form of action you are performing in a game is X then you should refer to it as X imo. I don't think its reductive, its just a quick and easy way of describing what something is for me.
Because the word shooter carries with it the expectation of inflicting violence with guns I wouldn't describe a game like Portal as a shooter despite the fact its primary mechanic involves shooting. It's a puzzle game because most of your time in it is spent solving puzzles.
Eh the destructoid guys have been podtoiding with Skype for years and theirs are just fine. Yeah its less professional and awkward at times but I could go for some classic Alex super cynicism now and then on the old bormcaust.
So basically always online drm = game is fucked. Studios are still trying to use this stuff why? oooh right complete and utter stupdity. I would be willing to bet my money that the city size limits and lack of teraforming were also design alterations from the original plan when EA probably forced Maxis to include the drm.
I was all set to get Ascension until I played the demo, holy moly did they fuck that game up bad, so glad to know my decision to not purchase was the right one after watching Sess's review.
Yep a very large portion of the gaming populace are ignorant, self indulgent, impatient people. Completely and utterly oblivious to the realities of how hard and all consuming making games is. I'm honestly surprised the industry is still standing, seems like it should have imploded by now. Maybe it is and it's just happening so gradually not enough people are noticing.

Seems these comments are rife with people like you who have no idea how expensive games are to make, especially those with extensive animation and art budgets such as Skullgirls.
Well I can't not get a PS4 eventually but like all consoles I'll wait patiently until the system has 3 or so must-haves for me and perhaps a discount from the initial RRP before I jump in.
I'd like to remind people I live in a country (Australia) where the PS3 launched at $1000 so whatever the US price is I suspect we will be getting butt-fooked a good couple 100 more initially.
