I feel like it's been a minute since a Film & 40's, why not do Total Recall next?! I know Dan wants to watch sober for maximum comprehension, but still :)
Double edit: Getting to re-see the early stuff with Anderson and him building his relationship with Shep(Shep) reminds me how rad Anderson is through the whole series.
Totally - that moment with Anderson just before the ending of ME3, you know the one, was always one of my favorite scenes of the entire series. Plus, ya know, Keith David is dope.
Loving this series Alex and Vinny, the enthusiasm is infectious! You've got me replaying the trilogy for the first time since the summer after graduating college 6 years ago. Takes me back, man.
I dunno. Mass Effect 1 is, like, 30 hours or something, depending on how many sidequests you do? Something like that anyway. With two hours per episode, it's like 15-20 episodes to finish it.
Still though: YES PLEASE GO BIWEEKLY (meaning two per week!). MASS EFFECT FUCKING RULES.
That's not what biweekly means. Y'all are thinking of semi-weekly.
Bi-weekly can mean both twice a week or once every two weeks. It's weird!
So glad you guys are playing through this series, and looking forward to how Alex feels about the games years later w/o ever having played them previously.
Mass Effect was my favorite game series of all time until I played the Witcher 3. Depending on the day, I could name any of the three Mass Effect games as my favorite in the series (the ending did bum me out at the time, but ME3 is great especially with all the DLC content!), but if I had to pick one of them, it's gotta be ME1. I will never forget my first playthrough of this game and how in love I was with the characters, story, universe, and sense of mystery/WTF is going on with Sovereign. Goddamn, so good. Also felt the strong connection with KOTOR, especially in ME1.
Hope they bring a third person to sit in on these occasionally - Dan, Abby, and of course The Professor Austin Walker.
What if GBEAST did a series where (new)Dan finishes Witcher 3 - picking up his old save file where he left it and with Vinny as his sherpa? I would totally watch a series like that.
I remember how pumped everyone on the bombcast was about Witcher 3 when it first came out years ago. Their enthusiasm was the main reason I even gave the game a shot with no prior knowledge of the other games or novels. Super glad I did, because goddamn that game is great :)
I think a series like that would infuriate more than it would please. There are a lot of people on these boards alone that think Witcher 3 is a "masterpiece" and to see Dan just shit all over it while Vinny endlessly sighs onward would be fun for like ONE episode and then not so much.
Just check out the All Systems Goku podcast comments where people are (in my opinion correctly) annoyed by Dan continuing to intentionally mispronounce one of the characters name.
I mean yeah, maybe so, but that's kinda just the internet, right? As someone who absolutely thinks Witcher 3 is a masterpiece and considers it my favorite game of all time (supplanting Mass Effect which I never thought possible!), I'd definitely enjoy watching them give it a try. Who knows, maybe Dan rekindles the love he had for it while playing the first 40-50 hours or whatever. Or not, that's cool too - Dan can continue to dismiss *insert thing people are passionate about* and its fans can continue to feel aggrieved when he does so. Like I said, his passion and enjoyment on the Bombcast as a newcomer to the game/series when it first came out was a big reason why I tried it for myself. Here I am droning on about a hypothetical series that won't happen anyway, that's what the Witcher does to me lol.
