I love the NGP. So much so, I have two of them (a b/w version and a color version). As consoles go, it didn't have a huge amount of games and almost zero third-party support; though SNK, by creating versions of key NEO GEO titles that played to the strengths of the handheld, left us with a core library of titles that still stand up today.
Here are just five of my favourite NGP games.
Pixelated heroin. I have the Western release of the Capcom version, and the Japanese release of the SNK version. Even in Japanese, it's still addictive.
The better of the two Neo Geo Pocket Metal Slug games. Great graphics and sound. Contains a staggering amount of missions and secrets.
In my humble opinion, almost on a par with Advance Wars.
A surprisingly fast port. Probably the best portable Sonic, pre-Gameboy Advance.
Great, fully-featured fighter. The NGP did really good super-deformed fighters in general, though this one is arguably the best.
