ATTN MODS: Please stop moving moving my threads to their respective and dead boards. I made a RESIDENT EVIL related thread and I received many replies very quickly on this forum (General Discussion). Guess what? When a mod moved said thread to the RESIDENT EVIL forums about a week or so ago, there hasn't been a SINGLE reply. Now I see that my most recent threads (an Earthbound thread and this one) have been moved to their respective forums, which are dead. If the forums are dead, please be kind and reasonable and allow these threads to remain in GD where they will actually be acknowledged and answered. Thank you.

For instance, if I wanted to play CHRONO TRIGGER, SUPER MARIO WORLD, ALTTP, etc. Classic OR Classic Controller Pro OR the hard-to-get-if-you're-North-American-so-I-don't-know-why-I'm-mentioning-it SNES controller from the EU Club Nintendo?

Thoughts?

I was planning on buying the Classic Controller Pro for my play through of Chrono Trigger, ALTTP, Super Mario World and other SNES classics. Good plan?

I've browsed other forums where users are saying skipping Mother 1 is BLASPHEMOUS.

I don't see why you would avoid ROMs but think Ebay is okay? Either way the publishers/developers will not receive any money for their work.

There's really no realistic way of playing Mother 1 and 3 in English without doing something in a legal grey area. But if you morally feel the need to pay the developers, you could possibly pay to have some new copies imported from Japan. Then you could download the translated ROMs. I wouldn't feel bad about doing that at all and I don't see why anyone should.

Well, Ebay is a legal means to acquire these items. I know that both options do not bring any money to the publishers/developers, unfortunately.

I've heard so many great things about EARTHBOUND over the years. It's clearly about time that I tried the game!

I didn't realize until recently that Earthbound is the second instalment in the Mother series. So, I suppose I should start with Mother 1, right? How exactly would a North American gamer get his or her hands on Mother 1, Earthbound and Mother 3? I'm not interested in ROMs or anything illegal, obviously... so does this really mean that my only options are those exorbitantly priced Ebay auctions? I don't even a GBA! I do have a DS, though... and a 3DS (but it's unlikely Nintendo will make the Mother games available on the 3DS VC, right?)

Thoughts?

Shoot. This thread was moved to a dead board... it was receiving more replies where it was originally posted.

Right. So is it better to get RE2 and RE3 in 480p (the Wii versions) or in 1080p (the PSN versions, presumably)?

Or should I just get the old PS1 games from a gaming shop and run them on my PS3? :P

Well I never played RE 2 or 3 on gamecube. I have 2 on PSN. Looks as good as PS1 game in HD can look I guess. Which is pretty damn bad. RE CV looks pretty nice. The dialogue is horrendous but obviously thats not gonna change.

You ever play RE Zero? Think its a really good game and overlooked by many. RE CV is probably my least favorite.

Really? While I never finished it, I remember the atmosphere and the setting in CV being really quite superb. I still remember those Bandersnatches, too. So scary.

And no, I have not played RE: Zero. I was thinking about picking up the Wii re-release since I imagine it is easier to a acquire than the GC version. I just don't want to end up with a version that is 'downgraded' in any way...

Someone told me the Wii versions do look better. 480p or something. So if you get those you are probably better off getting the Wii versions.

Yeah, it's tricky... because RE4 and RECV just got re-released in HD on the PSN. As the image I post above demonstrates, RECV has improved lighting. So I think I'll go for the PSN version for CV.

I'll get the Wii versions of REmake and RE: Zero... that seems like the best option, as there are no superior versions.

However, with regards to the others, I'm not sure. How do RE2 and RE3 look on the PSN? Are they also in HD? Do the Wii re-releases look better (if so, how can that be? If the Wii versions are limited to 480p, and the PSN versions are HD, then wouldn't the latter versions be the superior versions? Unless, of course, the latter versions are actually not in HD).

Any further clarification on these matters would be appreciated.
