 They haven't even said what this is really   BUT HEY FUCK IT LETS JUDGE IT

But but but then what will I complain to the internet about?

I was really hoping I would never have to be "devil's advocate" especially for Activision of all companies, but considering the amount of information they released regarding which services are payed for and which aren't (they haven't), the majority of the complaints leveled so far here seem very shallow and nitpicky. I guess that makes sense in the end, when you consider that the majority of people who care enough about video games to post comments on news articles about them are shallow, nitpicky people. I certainly am, but I never pretended I wasn't.

I really doubt this will work out as well as they're hoping. The only people who care about weapon statistics and clan support tend to be people smart enough to not pay eight goddamned dollars a month for such things. Oh my god, eight dollars a month- this can't be real. I refuse to believe even Activision would do this. It has to be some elaborate, self-aware prank. At least, that's what I'm telling myself tonight so I'll be able to sleep.

I'm actually kind of interested in the free portion ($8 a month? I'd be on the fence about $8 a YEAR) but that video was painfully unfunny. Really, wow.

@ryanwho: I can tell you're getting pretty heated up about this, so I'll make it short, okay?

OSC's beliefs are very relevant to this discussion, because he's a board member of the "National Organization for Marriage", a group specifically founded to fight against gay rights. Whether you want to admit it or not, when you buy any of his books, or give him money in any way, you are funneling money into an organization that thrives by dividing people based on sexual orientation and promoting such discrimination.

I'll admit, I bought Shadow Complex before realizing OSC was involved. I felt a $50 donation to the ACLU might have helped offset some of that, however.

@ryanwho, @ArbitraryWater:
Who said anything about being "politically correct" or "liberal"? Liberal and conservative don't necessarily apply here - what does apply is who, in this time of economic and political uncertainty, is deathly afraid, for whatever reason, of dudes marrying dudes. So which are you, hrm?

" While the book means alot to me, I hope a game never comes out. Any money in the pocket of OSC could get used to further his homophobic agenda. Fuck Orson Scott Card. "
I second this.
