Whenever there's not a Jeff on screen, all the other characters should be saying "where's Jeff?"

@reap3r160: It's hard to remember now that there's a whole "Souls-like" genre, but Demon's Souls was bewildering to people when it first came out. Go check out the GB Quick Look of the original. One of my favorite Quick Looks, inspired me to play the game, but it's hilarious how baffled they are by the game.

BC (Before Christ) is the same as BCE (Before Common Era). The latter came much later though as in only in the past 25 years and only as a result of a lawsuit having to do with the separation of church and state.

I'm sorry but this is false and ridiculous (the lawsuit part I mean). BCE/CE has become more widely used globally because it's more inclusive. In the US, individual school districts and teachers are free to use whichever nomenclature they want.

It will never fail to blow my mind when two Twitter accounts I follow for two completely different reasons, in two completely different social spheres, that I would never think to connect in any way, tweet to one another.

(Referring to @danryckert and @DARPA in case it wasn't clear)

Just a semi-answer to Vinny's question about whether Bayek is old for his time. Yes, at various points in human history the average lifespan has been 30-40 years. But the average hides the actual distribution: a lot of children died in infancy or as young kids, and if you survived childhood you were likely to live 60-70 years. So it was a bimodal distribution with one peak below age 5 and another peak around 65, resulting in a totally-misleading average near 35.

Caveat: I don't know whether this is true of this period of Egyptian history, but I am pretty sure it was true for most pre-industrial societies.

@fightingfalco If this gives you any indication of the complexity, there are four(!) meters to keep track of at all times. Not to mention that some characters have their own additional meters. I platinum'ed GGXRD, but I don't feel like I even came close to understanding it, let alone being good at it. It was a blast though.

@dasakamov Sorry dude, but I don't know how you could hear a name like "Sol Badguy" or "Revolver Ocelot" and think "these people don't understand English" rather than "these people have a wild sense of humor." Especially with all the other insane stuff going on around those characters.

When I started the first game it felt overly punishing and unfair. I found it very frustrating and really disliked it. When I did finally get into the swing of it, I liked it a lot. It took a *long* time to get there though--at least 5 hours of play in the first three missions. So I can't really blame Brad for playing poorly and disliking it.

I have heard some negative things about this one even from people that "got" the first one though, so I'll wait until it's on a PSN Flash sale.

@coldblood: As someone about the same age and also with two young children, I so completely identify with Vinny tripping over his words, forgetting basic things, and getting confused/distracted seemingly at random. It's nice to see that I'm not the only one affected in that way.

@jonny_anonymous: Come on, man. If "content for the holidays" was the sole concern, they wouldn't need to put so much time and effort into it.

Listen, if I were Vinny and my boss told me "you have to be away from your family for two weeks in December to generate content for the holidays", I'd say, "no, I'll just stay here and play Castlevania or whatever". And if that didn't fly, I'd tell him to shove it and find someone to replace me. There's clearly a lot more to GOTY than "generating content".
