These games are varying degrees of incomplete, but are still good games, despite the flaw of being unfinished, and probably some other flaws too.

There is a cutscene in the middle where they just show you parts of the game that were cut out. Also, in the pre-release trailers--they show you playing in some city that was also cut from the game. The game later got DLC that made the end make more sense. Like FF12, the hunts are pretty fun and maybe the best part.
Half a game. The second half just has you re-doing missions from the first half. The ending doesn't feel like an ending. Despite being half a game, many hail it as one of the best stealth games. I would say it is a pretty good stealth game, but not the best. Certainly not the best Metal Gear game.
The second disc feels more constrained and linear, but despite this it is still a singular rpg experience. The template for later games with XENO in the title, though related by themes and other elements only. Like how Final Fantasy games are related.
Ends on a huge cliffhanger. No episode three or HL:3 was ever released. Famously. Infamously. We can probably blame the ascendency of Steam as a platform for this. Valve only has to make games if they want to now. Not unfinished in the traditional sense, but still warrants inclusion since clearly there were plans for a conclusion to the Half-Life story.
