Difficulty: it’s the Dark Souls of video game discussion topics. We, as in games-people, have begun to look inward and point the microscope towards the art of making virtual tasks harder for a while now. The “how” has been progressively honed for ages, but games are increasingly wondering why. There's nothing that mentally ages and separates me out of my generation quite like a piece of media that is fawned over while I think nothing but, "I don't get it." Since the first time I caught wind of Night in the Woods via its successful kickstarter, I stepped backwards into an almost completely unearned petulance, like a child or, more accurately, a cantankerous old man. Note: Before I begin, I'd like to acknowledge the fact that the version of this game that I played (Wii U) was marred by some pretty intense performance issues, mostly dealing in framerate and hitching. The reason that I am pointing this out is because 1) the technically superior version (NSW), from both my observation and (admittedly light) first-hand experience, has a product stable enough that I wouldn't even point it out in a Switch-centric review, and 2) I'm not that interested in exploring...
