I forgot to add my name to the sheet in time lol, but I'll be streaming all day tomorrow (Nov 4) 8am EDT - midnight. Twitch name: 'jmfowler'. A weird mix of 16-bit era Disney games, Castlevania, and maybe some TMNT. Good luck to everyone streaming, let's go team Giant Bomb!
Tunic is great, and Escape Academy was a very nice surprise this year for me. I think the main problem with the social simulator side of Midnight Suns is that there is sooo much of it. It needs editing!
Good list! I really wanted to like Metal Hellsinger more than I did. I think it has a lot of really great touches, but something about it dragged in the back half such that I liked it less the more I played. But the way it uses its music is so good!!
Good list and good write-ups! I'm happy to see Tunic on more lists, I found that to be pretty special. And I should probably try Nobody Saves the World, I've seen it on a number of lists at this point!
Great write-ups and fun list! Tunic really does capture that magical feeling of digging into a mysterious game, with only the manual to help you (if you avoid looking up answers online of course haha). It really clicked with me too.
It really was a crazy year for tactics games. I played at least 4-5 myself, all of them good, and can think of another 4-5 that came out and I didn't play but are probably also good! This is a great idea for a blog series, looking forward to what you cover next!
