@styx971: @mamba219: I actually won the mandatory match 1-0 and haven't won again since. But I've only played a few more games and Tidus still hasn't gotten his 1XP to get to level 3 to be able to use Jecht Shot.

That's amazing! A lot of rolls probably went in your favor for you to win that. And yeah Jecht shot is handy but not that great...it will help you score more often, but I remember finding the bigger problem was that you basically have no defense early on. There's pretty much no way to prevent people from scoring on you. I think you can find a freelance blitzballer named Wedge who is a really good defensive player somewhere in Luca, then do everything you can to upgrade your goalie. Despite his name, Keepa is not doing much for you.

Getting good at Blitzball boils down to stealing the Al Bhed team's goalie. That's about all you need.

It's unbelievable how bad they made it seem in the single mandatory match.

The true test of whether you like Blitzball will be whether learning the trick to completely break it causes you to like it even more or think it's the dumbest side activity in the history of video games.

I genuinely liked Blitzball to such an extent that eventhough i knew how to break it, i just didn't want to do it. What's the point of collecting all these cool moves and awesome players if i wasn't willing to ball?! For all it's faults, Blitzball is a massive step up in ambition from Tetra Master. A game where 4 random rolls are done each turn, to figure out who wins, can't be a good cardgame. They had such a good thing going with Triple Triad, but couldn't do it better the 2nd time around :(

I've only paid full price for a game twice in the past four years of buying probably around 100 games.

I don't believe in wasting money on a new game when I could buy three games for the same price.

That said, if there are games I am incredibly excited for, I will buy them early regardless of price. But this is extremely rare.

So i didnt play the OG golden sun till 2015. I just started pokemon Sword and I didnt play sekiro till one year after it released.

I always see people moving to the latest release and but their seems to be loads of hidden gems across the gaming world that never got the attention

I feel like I keep missing the hype upon a games releasse but im having so much fun with the older games (1 or 10 years older). Am i missing that much with the hype of new releases?

I like the look of city skylines but it was released 2015

Is the hype train overrated? or am i missing out on not keeping up to date?

I am literally 16 years behind on games, still playing late era PS2 games. So yeah, you're not alone.

I'm a little bit older than Vinny. The current market on streaming is crazy energetic young youtubers or twitch streamers, that I don't want to watch. Is there a gap in the market for viewers like me, mid 40's, who want to listen to older gamers?

If there are lots of people like you out there, then probably.

Legitimate question though: do you care most about the person's age, or their perceived maturity? Because I agree with you that I don't really enjoy the hyper energetic folk, but I do enjoy some rather relaxed and informative video game streams now and again - but I don't believe those folks are in their mid 40's.

I decided to try out a Monster Hunter game last Friday. My intention was to pop Monster Hunter Freedom for PSP in for about an hour and see what the game was like.

Instead, I played it for around 6 hours straight.

Now, I'm not someone who does this much - if ever. Usually, my gaming is highly regulated to around 1-2 hours per session, when I feel like playing anything while sitting down. Since I became addicted to walking last May, 99% of my gaming has shifted to handheld as I'm able to do that while walking around outdoors.

Monster Hunter Freedom, though...what can I say about it. It's the most fun video game I've played in years. Like, just pure unadulterated fun. I've been obsessed with it ever since and if it weren't for dating a new person it'd be all I've done in the last week. What's insane about this to me is that it's considered to be among the worst Monster Hunter games, with the general consensus seeming to be that every other major installment is a large step up from Freedom.

This caused me to go on a buying spree, resulting in copies of every single major Monster Hunter title, including the Japanese only PSP game Monster Hunter Portable 3rd.

So, yeah. TL;DR, Monster Hunter great.

Michael Jackson will always be my #1, but George Carlin is a close second.
