This was a great piece of writing, Austin. Thanks for putting it out there. It's suprisingly difficult to come around to the idea that we can be critical of things we love, when most of us are taught that people either like something and speak highly of it, or don't like something and criticize it.

I prefer turn-based, as they don't require me to learn and maintain a set of physicals skills to be decent at them. The timing and precision required in most real-time strategy games puts me off, because I'm not particularly great at either. I played through the first act of Warcraft III, but when I got to the second act and learned how important ground-targeting was (something I had used very little of during the first act), I failed miserably at it and eventually shelved the game.

I think I'd be all right with real time games that allow you to pause, think and/or issue orders for times when things felt crazy, but I don't really know of any.

Good & Plenty is (are?) delicious, and look like drugs, which makes them fun to eat out of a sandwich bag in the company of people who don't know what they are. Also they are a great way to make friends with old people, and forum moderators (but also sometimes enemies!)

@patrickklepek I can't eloquently say what I feel just now. While I love and will continue to love all the silly content that Giant Bomb puts out, your content has been some of my absolute favorite stuff. Thank you for being the voice for some important topics on the site. I think the community was made better by it. I'm really gonna miss you around here.

I'm glad GB finally put something up like this. To criticize a sentiment that I mostly agree with however, I think that "Silence might also be not letting a campaign of hate and chaos be taken seriously by not giving it a place at the table." is only really something you can say if you're not affected directly.

GG barged into the table and is putting piles of shit on it. Ignoring that and leaving everybody who doesn't have a choice but to be there might make them a little cold to you.

I really wish folks would stop shoving the word "finally" into their statements of appreciation. Jeff and the gang took the time they felt they needed to sort through things and form a response. I feel that adding "finally" takes away from the thought that went into the response by implying they took too long.

I've never been more proud to support a group of individuals as I am to support everyone involved with Giant Bomb.

I've been quietly hoping that you folks would step up and say something, and I'm thrilled that you took your time to discuss it at length internally, rather than throw up some knee-jerk response to the ongoing events.

@fobwashed: That's exactly how I feel, and why I chose to stay when Kenny gave Carter what he deserved. I could feel the scowl on my face, much like the one Clem had on hers during that sequence. Similarly I looked away a couple of times, because goddamn, that was one hell of a beating.
