My favorite games of 2016.

Doom was the best first person shooter campaign that I can remember in a long time. So much fun from start to finish.
Hitman is a game that takes advantage of its episodic format better than any other episodic game out there. The time between episodes never felt like a wait to me, but rather an excuse to explore the levels and find all the little things I had missed on my first play through.
Overwatch is one of the best multiplayer games in the the past few years. Full stop. While I don't have the same fervent passion for it that some others do, I expect to pop in and play this game for years to come.
Dark Souls 3 is a game I need to go back to. After putting about 20 hours into it I drifted away from the game and never beat it. Still, it is a very good Souls game that I thoroughly enjoyed my time with.
My favorite racing game this year. I didn't become as engrossed in it as I thought I would when I first started playing it, but the game is so much fun, and a definite step up from the series' previous installments as of late.
I don't have much to say about Civ VI other than that I enjoy it quite a bit. I really like the changes they made to the way cities are built.
A fun farming game in which I didn't do much farming (and also never beat). This game is just charming, and it gives you a lot more to do than just manage your crops.
Specifically, the Blood and Wine expansion. Had I played more than a handful of hours of Blood and Wine, this would probably be much higher on my list. Even in those first few hours, though, I can tell that this expansion is more of what I love about the Witcher 3, and that it is substantial enough to put on my list with other "full" games.
A fun, simple physics platformer with a lot of charm. The game is short, but I found myself replaying stages just because of how much fun I had with them. Definitely one of my 10 favorite games of the year.
While I didn't touch the multiplayer, the campaign really hooked me with its new setting and some great characters (Ethan in particular).
