ps vita handheld review sorta

ok this is a repost

pros

  • dual analog
  • good graphics
  • a few good games
  • usual ps buttons
  • motion sensor
  • cameras
  • it has loud speakers good for the on board music player

cons

  1. price
  2. memory card is needed to boot many of the available games , and if you plan on downloading your titles you better have deep pockets -32 gigs cost 100 dollars , 4 gig will only hold 1 game 8 gig will hold 2
  3. no system sellers -meaning there is nothing that can sell this thing , yes theres a few good games lined up but most of them are either ports of games already out on 3ds or ps3 360 wii ds
  4. and these developers are slow at announcing any games to offer us after this first wave of games

I believe my review is more accurate.

Pros:

- doesn't burst into flames while I'm holding it

- won't give me any sexually transmitted infections

- too light to bludgeon someone to death with

- smells better than a sack of wet dog fur

- not invisible

Cons:

- can't eat it

- doesn't shoot lasers

- it wasn't free

I like it. It feels like a solid, well-built machine. I am really curious to see how they support it in the future.

Counters:

1. Everything costs money. Yeah, it would be nice if it was $30 for the system and 50 cents per game, but it's $250 for the system. If you'd like a single touch touchscreen that requires a stylus and almost Gamecube era graphics, a 3DS is only $160. And hey, it comes with a 2GB card out of the box, sweet! (Let me just say, I like the 3DS, but from a technical standpoint it's not a Vita. Whether or not it should be is a subjective issue depending on the person.)

2. You don't need a 32GB card, and most of the PSN Store-only titles have been well under 500MB each, so if you buy physical copies of the games, 4GB should/would be fine. When I got my Vita, it came with a 4GB card and I dl'd Stardust Delta, Mutant Blobs Attack, and the 3 AR games onto it and still had space to spare. Plus you can store games you aren't playing on your PS3/PC, so you don't have to re-download them again if you don't want to. I have a 16GB card now, not because I really needed it, but because someone gave me a $50 Best Buy gift card and it seemed like a smart move in the long run for me personally.

3. Uncharted, Lumines, Stardust Delta, Wipeout 2048, Touch My Katamari plus 250+ PSP titles to choose from. Once again, I think "system seller" is a subjective term, I bought the Vita primarily for Uncharted, and I know people who bought it just for Lumines. I know a few people who bought it just to bring dual analog stick capability to PSP games like Monster Hunter Freedom United with the d-pad/face button remapping options on the Vita.

4. Welcome to a console launch. There are games that have been announced, but yeah, a lot haven't. That doesn't mean they're not coming, it just means we don't know about them yet. When the 3DS launched, there were only 2-3 "known" games coming out post-launch. This isn't anything new.

This post screams, "I don't have a Vita, but hey, that won't stop me from giving my uninformed opinion on it, facts be damned."

I don't think I have seen any console launch with much better launch titles including the 3DS which didn't even have one new top tier game at launch. The price is very reasonable for what it does. Yes the memory cards are entirely too much for what they are so you do have one good point.

$250 is incredibly cheap. I don't know how low people expect companies to be able to go. This is essentially a PS3 packed into a handheld, and you want to pay what, $99 for it?

What would be a system seller? I'd imagine they were wanting/hoping Uncharted Golden Abyss would be it.

I'm on Chapter 20 something and think the game is pretty damn good honestly. I agree that they crammed in a lot of the Vita touch features which reflects poorly on the overall experience because they just aren't fun to do. But as a whole it's quite good.
