The Top 5 Most Disappointing Games of 2010.

Disappointing isn't really a word I would throw around too much this year.  2010 was probably the best year for gaming in quite some time.  With so many technical achievements accomplished in under a year for video games, it's hard to imagine that we also had some pretty big stinkers this year too.  However, here are my top five most disappointing games of 2010:

List items

  • I will argue with anyone who thinks "New Vegas" is a stellar game, it simply isn't. For starters, the game was more broken out the gate then any other game I played this year, and while some would argue that Fallout 3 was the same way when it launched two years ago, I will counter that with a simple: we should have learned from those mistakes in two years.

But come on, wasn't this the sequel we all wanted from the guys behind Fallout 1 and 2? Apparently not. Not only is there hardly anything memorable that goes on in New Vegas, but simple things, like climbing over rocks, have been replaced with insane invisible walls. Not to mention this game is much more difficult, a hell of a lot more confusing (four different paths to be taken then just two this time), and worst of all, the first dlc pack released for this game was an utter joke. Hell, thanks to a glitch at Microsoft, I got the dlc for free, and I still think it sucks.

It's become so bad that I regret buying the collectors edition of this game. Bethesda, why the hell did you let Obsidian make this game? Seriously...I'd rather have just waited another year for "Skyrim". Skip this game.

  • Simply put: Splatterhouse should just not exist. The game is flat out an awful orgy of blood, violence, and vulgarity mixed into a disc. If you have this game, crack it and throw it in the toilet, then take a piss on it.

Don't get sucked into the beginning of the game by it's bloody awesome dismemberment...because that's what happened to me. Yes, I'm a huge sucker for games that are over-the-top violent, but "Splatterhouse" manages to do all of this so insanely bad that at one point I almost broke my controller at too thanks to the absurd upscalling difficulty, and the fact that even though there are a lot of combos to be unlocked here, none of them really do much else.

Splatterhouse should only be looked at as a lesson of what not to do in the future. Some games should just remain in the past.

  • Oh Alan Wake...how we all waited for you to be the "godsend to video games" that you had been promised to be since...2003? I mean come on, if anyone isn't as disappointed as me at how long it took for this game to come out, then not only sell horribly, but turn out to be nothing more then a terribly written Stephen King knock off (in video game form), then shame on you. Tack on two dlc's that only add to the convoluted and ridiculous plot of this game, and you have what should have been a great game, turn out to be nothing more then a mediocre and watered down version of Silent Hill. Add to that the fact that DLC2: The Writer is so awful, it's almost unplayable. Dude's at Remedy: this game isn't a platformer, so stop trying to make it one. If you guys want to make a platform game...then just make that game.

  • This is in regards to the XBLA release of this game.

Dude, Sega...come on. I love me some Crazy Taxi...and so does a hell of a lot of people. So why do everyone the injustice of releasing a half-assed port of the game, and then not only skip out on updating or smoothing out the graphics, but take out all of the music that made this game great.

I have a lot of fond memories of playing this game ten years ago...nearly every one of them was crushed while playing the Xbox Live Arcade version of this game. SKIP IT!!!

  • No, I don't have any real hatred for "Crackdown 2". In fact, I enjoyed the nearly 60 hours I put into this game this year. However, what makes this game get put on this list is the terrible dlc that was tacked on. The first dlc was decent enough...adding a few cool ideas (such as the jet-pack boots). However, dlc 2, "The Deluge", put me down with it's arena based bullshit. I mean seriously, does every game need to have a combat arena of some sort? I'm tired of combat arena's. No game is going to do it better then "Batman: Arkham Asylum" at this point, so let's give up on that.

By no means a bad game, but don't look for any stellar dlc.
