Everyone should try this side scroller! 0

The Good – It’s a side scrolling game, in which you’re a little boy looking for your sister in the woods…..but only in the beginning. What follows are a countless series of puzzles to get through to the end. No two are the same, it gets very challenging, but it’s never impossible. I didn’t even have to look up anything online It’s somewhat reminicent of Braid, another downloadable game that I freakin’ loved. But that’s where the comparison stops, for the most part, there’s no time bend...

It’s basically GTA set in the old west. 0

The Good – Having written some impressions on this awhile back, I hope you guys don’t mind me repeating some stuff(aka copy-paste). It’s basically GTA set in the old west. Here we have a  living breathing world, walk around the town and you get to see all the stuff that used to go down back in those days. From the cool, to the mundane. It follows the typical mission structure, instead of cars, you ride horses though(durr). And a ton of mini games that just drapes you in it’s atmos...

Take your time, enjoy the sights. It's quick. 0

I know I know….dang Rich, you sure are doing alot of DLC reviews instead of full game reviews lately. Ever since I got back into the 360 mod scene I’ve been playing mucho games, just not enough time to finish them. Anyway, Sony gave away the first Heavy Rain DLC to the cats who pre-ordered the game. I really dig Heavy Rain so I’m taking my time with it and a review will come soon. Here’s my thoughts on Heavy Rain Chonicles 1:The Taxidermist. 8/10 The Good – This chapter pits you in...

Different is sometimes good? 0

This be the long awaited PS3 exclusive from developer Quantic Dream. The follow up to their awesome Indigo Prophecy(Fahrenheit in the UK), this follows a much different story. One that I enjoyed immensely, 8/10. The Good – Something…different. This isn’t your traditional game, in fact, I think it’s hard to explain the gameplay and make it sound exciting. That’s because the actual gameplay isn’t, it’s the story, the situations, the conflicts that your characters run into that make it ...

It is time for you to satisfy your inner rage. (nerd) 0

Finally, the long awaited end to the trilogy is here….how’s it hold up for me? 10/10….yeah I said it, deal with it. The Good – Let me get this outta the way right now, no, this game is not perfect, nor is any game. The problem is, a lot of cats assume a 10 means just that, to them, I say grow up. Since no game is perfect, then what’s the point of the 10 score? I’m going go with how great I thought my experience was, however flawed it can be. Continuing the Greek mythology themed sto...

Good game to try out but nothing groundbreaking (anymore) 0

Nothing new to see here, move along. It’s boring mmo talk which no one with a “cool” social life really wants to talk about anyways. I’m talking about Warhammer Online developed by Mythic. I mention Mythic because nerdboys tend to have developer hate. I’m included in that statement. Anyhow, I found out about this game a long long ways ago because of everyone’s constant complaining about “wow is too ez” and theres this shiny new game that BE A WOW KILLER. Of course the curious cat in me d...

30 stars in and kickin'nass! 0

I was only gonna throw up an impressions of this. But at 30+ stars in, I think I’ve spent enough time on it to decide if it’s worth owning and therefore giving it a score. Heck, I’ve never finished Galaxy 1, but once I got my initial cluster of stars, I slowed down and only play once in a blue. I’m only at 51 stars in pt.1 and still love it as much as the day I picked it up. Galaxy deuce gets a 9/10 from me. The Good – Everything you loved about Galaxy 1, is back and in most cases,...

Great first impression then we just couldnt deal with it.. 0

Ahhh inFAMOUS…one of the PS3 exclusives of ‘09…this is a weird one for me. It created a so-so first impression which built up into a great time…then to a game I couldn’t deal with anymore. Sittin pretty with an 85 on the metacritic, this was a bit of a critical darling, not for me though….I’m a go with a 5/10. The Good – Original super hero style story that’s not based on a previous comic book for a change. You’re struck by a nuclear blast of sorts then start gaining some serious electrical pow...

In case you couldn’t get enough AC2, here’s a little more son. 0

Assassin’s Creed 2 was one of my favorite games of ‘09. There’s more than enough game there, so DLC really isn’t necessary, but there were a couple ‘memory chapters’ in the game that went ‘corrupted’ if you get the ‘Animus’ lingo. Word around the campfire is that the devs couldn’t polish up these chapters in time for the game’s release, therefore, with the power of the internet, we can get them later. The 1st one just came out on Xbox Live and the PSN, it’s 4 bux for an hour of so of gameplay…no...

at 5 bucks this is totally worth it! 0

Here you get to play through what was just a flashback for Chris in the main game. Being a huge Resident Evil fan, I’ve always maintained that I really liked RE5, but didn’t love it. Upon reflection though, it was a damn fine game once you got over the flaws. At 5 bux and available for the platforms that RE5 showed up on(not sure about the PC version though), this DLC is totally worth it and warrants a 9/10 from the double R. The Good – The setting takes you back to a mansion that’s very remini...

Finally, a new hat in the music game genre. Results are good! 0

Finally, a new hat in the music game genre. Results are generally good, if not difficult, but hey....I couldn't play Guitar Hero at first either, now I can do consistent 5's on hard mode. Anyways, some thoughts on whether or not this fulfills my childhood fantasy of being a DJ :-p It's available on the Xbox360, PS3, PS2 and the Wii. This gets an 8/10 from me. The Good - DJ music game that comes with a turntable controller. If you're familiar with Guitar Hero/Rock Band, some things will be a bit...

Reimaging without doing anything, a truely forgetable experience. 0

Yeah I just attempted to do "for the wii" and put into "make me sickey". It didn't really look as great as it sounds in my head but I'm going to roll with it anyways. Flat out. This game sucks in every way imaginable. It attempts to do "new" things without doing (what little is new) well. Re Imagining is not new.For me, next to Hellgate London this game ranks as one of the WORST games I've ever played. Good: This is my first review where I will put nothing. There is no good.Bad: This game is al...

Looking forward to this Wii “re imagining” for so long pains me 2

Anybody familiar with us knows that I’m a Silent Hill geek of epic proportions. Looking forward to this Wii “re imagining” for so long….pains me…for I just did not love this game. It’s out on Wii now, and soon will be on the PS2 and PSP. My rating, a disheartening 6/10. The Good – I would’ve given this game a number score lower, but it’s twist ending I felt, was really cool. Okay, first off, the graphics, look really nice for a Wii game. I’m simply not used to high quality textures on wii, but ...

Ubisoft gets it right this time around! 0

Ubisoft gets it right, here's for my review of one of my favorite crack addictive games of the year. Available for the Xbox360, PS3, and sometime next spring for the PC. I give this game a well deserved 9/10. The Good - So Ubisoft took what was a solid engine built to be the first title and made a real game out of it. What ever do I mean? Well, part 1 had a fairly nice graphics engine, cool premise, huge open world, and probably one of the best climbing mechanics I've seen in a game. Problem? T...

If you don’t like The Sopranos way of things - stay away. 0

Here we are with the second piece of promised DLC for GTAIV. Exclusive to the Xbox360(for now, if rumors are to be believed that is), for 20bux off of the Xbox Live Marketplace, or on the “Episodes From Liberty City” disc. Which is 40bux but it also comes with “The Lost And The Damned”. I liked this DLC even more than the last one, this gets a 9/10 from me. The Good – Rockstar has really gotten the whole storytelling thing down, everything from the dialog, the voice acting, heck, even the way th...

You'll laugh and have fun at the same time. What a odd concept. 0

I  found out about this game based purely on hype. Sure we've spoken about this on the podcast but alas my memory is not like the old days. I'm glad the hype machine worked on this one. Now  I cant recant to you the process why this game was developed in the manner it was or what game was the most influential one before that one but...I can tell you I had a lot of fun playing this. Not only just with gameplay but also laughing which very very very rarely happens while playing a video game. So..e...

Uncharted was a good release and amazing with the second! 0

Man, the PS3 has been on a roll this year with it’s exclusives and Uncharted 2 is no exception. Read on for some thoughts on one of my favorite gaming experiences of the year. 9/10 The Good – Please excuse me if I happen to repeat certain things from my review of the first game. But what was good there returns and is even better this time around. The Indiana Jones style adventure is back and even more exciting and multi-layered than before. Once again we have a third person action game with plat...

One of my all time favorite first person shooters EVER 0

In a bit of bass ackwardsness, here’s my review to the 2nd expansion pack to Half-Life 2. One of my all time favorite first person shooters EVER. Why this one first? I just played through it for a 2nd time last week so it’s fresh in my mind. The first time was when it was released 2yrs. ago on the Xbox360, then last week on my fairly equipped PC. I’m gonna go ahead and give this one a 10, that’s right, I went there Somewhere down the line I may review Half-Life 2 and the it’s first expansion Ep...

Dont Pay for this if you dont play lots of Co-Op. 0

Left 4 Dead is a zombie survivor story. You are given 4 seperate places to escape the zombie invasion along with 3 other NPC’s. You can have the option to play locally 4 player, online co-0p or by yourself with the computer playing the other 3. Good: The game is straight forward in it strategy. Point, shoot and watch the aftermath. It’s extremely easy to pick up.  Trouble is. That’s the game. Literally. Run. Look Zombies! Blamo! Run. Look Zombies! Blamo! If you played exclusivly Co-Op I know fo...

Provides more fun gameplay of a game we love. Nothing new though. 0

I'm not exactly sure about the future. I've seen every Back to the Future so I suppose I have some keen awareness of generic time travel principals.  You probably wont see me writing the "How to Time Travel" for Dummies, so Peter Molyneux the man we all love to hate probably wouldn't have hired me to create the latest DLC for Fable 2.  Good: I hate to list this as a good, but I will.  We get more Fable game play  which is never a bad thing. I'm not one to change things when it works just for ...

October is the perfect month for this game to be played! 0

A couple podcasts ago, I mentioned trying out Dead Space Extraction on the Wii all for about 10 minutes. Now we know it’s a prequel, but since I never had the time to play through the original game that came out a year ago, I figured October is as good of a month as any to have the bejeezus scared out of me. This game delivers, released for the Xbox 360, PS3, and the PC….Raw scale says, 9/10. The Good – A well told story in the sci-fi/horror realm. You play as an engineer(Issac) that’s part of...

If you’re a Halo fan, you know what to do, if not, become one. 0

Coming 2yrs after the release of Halo 3 is this tight little expansion, Halo 3 ODST. If you’re a Halo fan, you know what to do, if not, this game won’t change your mind…..8/10. The Good – More Halo, that’s really good to me, which means top notch console first person shooter action. The storyline is a fresh take on the usual formula, you get to see different takes from different character perspectives. It all takes place during Halo 2, basically experiencing a portion of what went down in New M...

Cute puzzler that when it works is quite addictive. Stress WHEN. 0

Here’s a little Nintendo DS number that was quite the industry darling, some heavy flaws are keeping it from keeping that status though. I wanna give it a 10 for it’s concept, but I gotta go with a 7 for the final execution. The Good – Cute puzzler on the DS, when it works is quite addictive. Here’s the selling point, type in a word, as long as it’s not a copyright, vulgar or whatever, and bam, it shows up on the screen. Type in ‘low rider’, poof, there it is…..’minotaur’, there’s a monster….’g...

A super hero based title that hangs with the triple-A big boys? 0

Could it be? A super hero based title that hangs with the triple-A big boys? Since I feel this game is a 9/10, I’d say so. I played this joint on the xbox360, it’s also out for PS3 and PC. The Good – Awesome 3rd person adventure that juggles many gaming styles. Obviously you play as Batman, who captures the Joker, while transporting him to Arkham Asylum, Joker gets loose and has sinister plans in place, taking over the asylum and trying to put Batman through a night of hell. It’s got a great st...

If you like RPG’s and own a 360, you need to have this game. 0

If you like RPG’s and own a 360, you need to have this game. Lets just put that out there. You’ve also most likely played this game but, if you have not, and fall into the category then please go purchase this right now. The game ran the gamut of emotions from pure joy to points where you just flat out feel ripped off. If you said it’s a 90, I’d agree. We spoke about this being the case for Star Wars Force unleashed…so..I was hoping for the DLC to fix some of these issues and it’s yet to be seen...

Too Challenging at times, not for the feint of heart. 0

Here’s a title off the Xbox Live Arcade, I think it’s a lot of fun and well worth the Microsoft space bucks(800 points AKA 10 bux). On the Richie Raw scale I’m gonna go with an 8/10. The Good – Here’s a title that channels the old school, as in it’s a side-scrolling platform game. You play as a science experiment gone wrong, your body is a constant burning cinder as you try to get through huge laboratory style levels. As Splosion Man, you have to jump and try to solve your way around platform p...

Lots of Addictive game play, with loads of Replayability 0

While downloadable games are usually the ‘bite size’ type, this one is as long as any retail game, longer if you decide to dig deeper. I’m talkin Shadow Complex, another title off the Xbox Live Arcade, it’s goes for 1200 points AKA 15 dollers….and I’m just gonna put it on front street here, this game sucked up most of my weekend, so a 9.5/10 for me as I had an incredible time with it. The Good – More old sschool channeling happening, in the spirit of a Metroid/Castlevania. It’s a side scrolling ...

You'll finish this by the time you're done eating your Take Out. 0

Here’s a game I’ve had on my mind for awhile. I played up till the final boss, had a really hard time with him, then let it sit till my first PS3 died, lost my saves so I gotta do it again. But it’s good enough for me to wanna play through again, gotta go with a 7/10 on this one. The Good – This is a hack-n-slash game in the style of God of War, you play as Nariko, a fiery redhead who wields the ‘Heavenly Sword’ and is able to pull off a ridiculous amount of attacks and combos with said sword a...

The Mad Max obsession continues.. 0

The Good – Anything that extends the Fallout 3 experience for me is good. New area that becomes part of the F3 environment, as opposed to Operation Anchorage where I’ve read that once you’re done….you’re done, no goin back, they tell you you’re free to come and go as you wish in the pitt.  Addicting feching quest(steel ingots!), which not only give you an acheivement when you get all 100, but you get a piece of new gear for every 10 you find. Deep moral tug’o'war in the storyline that really m...

Not worth the 10$. Still you get your power armor early. 0

Man, I steamrolled through this DLC. For better or worse. Here goes nothing. Good: You cant really mess up fallout 3, at least for us so more of it is always nice to have. It’s a interesting take for an add-on and works well in the context of the game. The change of pace from dark to light land textures were needed. There is a good amount of “mountain” country which to me didn’t exist in fallout 3. It all felt flat apart from boulders. DC is not really known for that I guess. The addition of th...

Zombie Fallout 3 makes it's first appearance! 0

Just when we thought Bethesda was done with Fallout 3 DLC, they go and announce more, we don’t mind Point Lookout was released on 6/23/09 for Xbox360 and PC. The PS3 version should be out later this year.  The Good – More Fallout 3, takes place in Maryland, new locales such as swamps and woods freshen up the scenery once again. Feels like a natural extension to the Fallout 3 world, not just an enclosed area like The Pitt was. New enemies reminiscent of the baddies in The Hills Have Eyes and ...

1/2 cup of good and 1/2 cup of bad makes this a solid 3 star. 0

This game came out last fall, during the time when alot of big hits try to cram through the market at once, though not all of them sell well. It probably explains why so many ‘hits’ from this fall have been delayed till early next year. Anyways, this is one that didn’t sell well, it was also available on PS3, and later on PC. The Good – Original first person experience that introduces gamers to parkour. The game is set in the future, where life is on a corporate stronghold, you’re a sort of an...

More fallout isen't a bad thing. Even if you're burned out on F3 0

I spent a chill saturday afternoon taking care of the last of the Fallout 3 DLC (according to Bethesda, but again, they say never say never). If I gotta place this on a quality scale, here goes, best on top of course… 1. Broken Steel 2. Point Lookout 3. tie- The Pitt/Mothership Zeta 4. Operation Anchorage …I played through it on the Xbox360, it’s also available on PC, and somewhere down the line it’ll be on the PS3…anyways, here’s my thoughts. The Good – As usual, I’m happy with any DLC in th...

I got my copy on release date 7-26-09 (which includes a Wii Motion Plus), and man, people must be expecting this bad boy to SELL. I thought I would have a hard time finding it like most Nintendo products on release day, but stepping in to Target, it was obvious, this game is probably everywhere. Why? I didn’t have to go to the gaming section, a huge stack was sitting at the front of the checkout isles, you know, the impulse product spots….that’s just insane to me. But it must’ have worked becaus...

Best RPG on Xbox360 hands down. 0

Coming out in 2006, seems so long ago, but really only 3 years, this gem still stands as one, or depending on who you talk to at the best RPG for the Xbox360. The game is a continuation of a long history within the Elder Scrolls series hence the IV. Most people call it Oblivion though. Good: The first thing that jumps out at you (especially to newcomers of the Xbox Hd experience) is the depth of graphics. You can visually stand on top of a mountain and see the Main Castle off in the distance a...

Need a mental workout, check this out. Good kids game too. 0

This little game marries entertainment and education – and therefore is referred to as “edutainment.” How cute. Little brain teasers and exercises stimulate your thought processes and get the wheels turning again, but packaged in mini-game format so you don’t even realize you are … gasp … thinking. And since you’ve probably already wasted a few hours (and brain cells) playing your 360 or PS3, the games really do take a matter of minutes – combined. The idea is that you first set up a profile and...

Allow me to take a page out of the biter’s handbook and follow m’man Chud Rock’s lead as I reach into the knapsack for some GBU action, let’s go back to last fall’s Silent Hill-Homecoming…also partly inspired by this week’s exciting news of a Silent Hill 1 remake. I know you guys are sayin to yerselves, “but Raw, aren’t you gonna be dissapointed by the graphics on the Wii?”….Not at all peeps, as long as it looks as good as SH3 did on the PS2, I’ll be ready to take a trip back to the lovely land ...

In light of Zelda’s Spirit Tracks announcements we’re going to go to ‘06 for this review. And as here at MC we don’t hold anything out of the realm of reviewing I’m taking this one on. So, buy your ticket and wait for Railroads to come sweep you away! Good – The Graphic’s are lovely looking for a 06 game and the cities are as you want to imagine them to be in this series. This is the spiritual successor to the 2nd edition of this game in that sense. RT2 Updated. The cities have multiple levels...

One of our favorite DLC for xbox360 0

In honor of Braid finally hitting the PC platform, I’ve decided to show it a little GBU love since it was one of my favorite downloadable xbox360 games last year. If you haven’t yet, try out the demo, if you like it you should buy it cuz it only gets better. This bad boy is a puzzler with 2D platforming elements. The Good – Gorgeous 2D graphics that really make the ol HDTV pop. Looks like a moving painting. Soothing, beautiful music keeps you sane as you try to solve some of the insane puzzles. ...

The Good – Fast paced action of the hack-n-slash variety that’s easy to pick up. God of War like in it’s approach to gameplay, which is a good thing. Fun moves and combos with a leveling system that gets deeper as you go along. Graphics based on Unreal Engine 3, Wolvie himself looks slick, it captures Hugh Jackman perfectly. Wolverine’s healing effect from the X-Men movies are rendered here perfectly, as Wolvie is shot, blown up, etc…you’ll see his insides and adamantium covered bones in all sor...
