Was getting some crazy flashbacks to early Rift DK2 performance during the stream. It took a few months of firmware updates to get the tracking better but it was never quite perfect. Considering the DK2 headset had more LED tracking points than the PSVR headset and was coupled with a custom webcam specialised for the task... man, i've got my doubts PSVR will even achieve DK2 levels of tracking (which aren't good enough anyway). The Rift CV1 does a slightly better job than the DK2 but is still hobbled by the camera based tracking.

This is all a huge bummer. If peoples first experience with VR is some half-baked vomit inducing mess, they're not going to be receptive to strapping something like a Vive on. Unfortunately we'll have to live with camera based tracking systems in the market for a few years as Sony and Oculus strive to get their return on investment.

VR has some decent potential in my line of work, so i've been an early adopter on all the PC headsets. I would hate to see something like 'VR Sickness' enter the public lexicon because with decent hardware and the Vive, that's a solved issue. Powering through or putting up with 'some uneasiness' isn't acceptable.

I want all the headsets to be good and everything to be great. Everyone should get a good experience with VR. It's up to those selling these things to set proper benchmarks. Consumers shouldn't suffer through bad hardware with some excuse like "Oh it's gen 1, it'll get better". That's what the dev kits were for.

Raw Data is dope, been playing with random people quite a bit. It's still super early but the fundamentals of it are great. There are games with better shooting and input feedback but as a whole it's just about right, just playing the waiting game on more content.

As with a lot of VR stuff, some of the fun just comes from having another person hanging around with you. When you're talking to and playing with another tracked and animated person it's pretty different to normal online play.
