John Candy's best performance was definitely in Home Alone, as the traveling band member Kevin's mom hitchhikes with.

I would argue that it's one of his best, but I don't seem to recall him making giant pancakes in that one, so I can't say it's the best.

R.I.P. John Candy.  What a great movie that was.

Dude, anything that man touched in the late 80's and early 90's was pretty much an instant classic.  R.I.P. indeed.
