giant bomb has had that core group of voices for the literal majority of my life. they've informed some of my taste, personality, and introduced me to other incredible people/things. they've always been a constant in my life. a source of comfort. can't help but feel heartbroken.

that said i am very excited for the future of the website and what else every one does.

To me, Aisha Tyler said it best. She wonderfully and succinctly described what I think people saw in him as a TV personality, writer, and human. He was truly genuine (which is rare in that world).

Fuck cancer. I watched my step dad wilt away. I hope John was as comfortable as he could be.

I can't add much more to the already great lists by the folks above me but I do implore you to listen to Suffragette City by Bowie.

It's extremely catchy, great riff, and most importantly has an awesome sound. The production on the entire album is great, but that one is a stand out track to me. Listen to the layering, especially the bass/keyboard mix near the end (around 2:18).

I'll watch it just for Dafoe as Ryuk. As the rest, eh.

Same.

And apparently Atticus Ross did some of the score so that's cool.

This one is hard.

Good luck Drew. Thanks for responding to my PM that one time...

And thanks for being a rad guy who exposed a lot of people to things they probably wouldn't have ever tried out.

You better be around for podcasts!

His reverence for the original music comes through so clearly. His comments about combining technology and metal, especially, really show that he wanted to take what made the music so good when it first released and modernize it for today's audience, just like the rest of the game has done.

As kind of an aside, some of the ambient tracks really give me a Nine Inch Nails circa Pretty Hate Machine kind of vibe. Everything about his work on the soundtrack speaks to me.

There are so many moments in the soundtrack (production wise) that made me say "Ok, now you're just doing your best Trent Reznor impression."

He pulls it off very, very well.

IIRC, Jeff mentioned something about how that may be between Spotify and those specific podcasts. I don't know if, and I very much doubt, it is as easy as it may seem.
