I have a special relationship with Civ IV. Back in middle school we had one of those scholastic book fairs where they set up the popup bookstore in the library or gym. This one fair was selling, at the time a couple years old, Civ III. I didnt know anything about it but it was a video game so I bought it. Got home and it turns out the disk was all scratched up or something. Couldn't play it.

So my Dad says "Why don't you write to who ever makes these things and get a refund?". I email 2K or Firaxis (or both I forget) and a couple weeks later I get a package. It had this nice letter about how even though Civ II was outta print they wanted to make it up to me so they sent me Civ IV and all its expansions as well. It was so awesome.

I must of played upwards of 100 hours on that thing. I never wanted to wage war at all, I loved trying to build as many wonders in a single city as possible because it always looked like a hilarious cluster fuck.
