Dishonored is Bethesda's biggest release this year, along with Skyrim DLC. Giving the game a decent marketing push doesn't bother me, especially since it seems like a different publisher with a different release lineup might just as easily have sent this hard to market, original IP off to quietly die. At least someone at Bethesda cares about it's success and they're trying to maximize it's sales potential.

Fearing that they're building unreasonable hype by releasing too much and sounding like salesmen is a non-issue for me - I personally haven't watched much on the game since E3, as I'm already sold based on the concepts, demo and pedigree of the development team. Working yourself up into a pre-release frenzy over PR material is an easy way to end up disappointed no matter how a game turns out.

It's really, really nice, even in Beta. Valve's UI design is second to none. You can even hit the guide button on a 360 PC controller to bring up the interface. Man, I can't wait for this thing to take off.

I am not a developer, but I think it's a fine idea. One that Valve probably already had waiting in the wings depending on how things went, considering how fast it was implemented. $100 is just enough to give pause before committing but a good investment if you believe in your game's potential. If just for the eyes alone, since we don't yet know what gets onto Steam via Greenlight.

There is really a lot of crap on here, and even more middling XNA/iOS/RPG Maker games that probably mean well but don't really belong on Steam either. I've heard some grumblings about a 'Thumbs Down' option being ripe for abuse, but it seems absolutely necessary to me.

That being said, even if games shouldn't end up on the service Greenlight is still a pretty awesome platform for discovery in general. And then there's the few that did actually fall through the cracks like The Real Texas and Octodad 2 that deserve to be pushed through. Hope this experiment ends up working as intended and being a success for all - as a path to getting more quality titles on Steam and as a feedback mechanism for budding developers.

Not annoyed with any opinions in the QL, just fairly bemused that they felt comfortable showing the game off after reaching level 6. Takes around an hour or two to do that.

Guild Wars 2 is a big game, and probably deserved more preparation time than what it was given. They gave PSO2 around 12 hours before filming a QL, for example. Still opinions are opinions, can't make a person excited for something that they just aren't.

Going to let my sub run out until they get their house in order regarding scheduled premium content. Will gladly sign back up when/if that time comes, at the very least on a monthly basis.
