PS4 Test
This isn't going to be a very exciting list, alas, unless you all feel like participating with recommendations (see below).
See, I'm getting to the point now where purchasing a new console is an inevitability. Yet, with my limited funds and moderate PS3/360 backlog, I've been hoping to put this off as long as possible. The rave reviews of both Bloodborne and Witcher 3 are telling me that, just maybe, the time has come to bite the bullet.
So I'm going to create a list of "must-haves" and update it over the next few months. If I hit 10 items before October, I'm going to buy myself the console for my birthday. If not, I'll let it ride until the following October and keep on updating it (I'll be adding Just Cause 3 and FFXV at some point next year if that happens, most likely).
I'm counting any:
- Current-gen game released on the PS4, regardless of whether they're exclusive or not (I imagine most won't be).
- Games that have horribly crippled/compromised PS3/360 ports, like Shadow of Mordor.
- Games that are out or will be out before October.
Not including:
- PSN games if they're available for PC (or will be) and don't seem too resource-intensive, like Axiom Verge.
(I haven't completely written off the idea of getting an Xbox One either. It's entirely which is cheapest that matters for me right now; everything else seems too close to call unless the exclusives push me over the line. D4, for instance.)
POST-E3 UPDATE: I'm now strongly considering the XB1 with the news that it has backwards compatibility. I think it surprised everyone, since Sony didn't present anything with which to respond to it (too busy dropping dream project bombs). I'll wait to see if Sony comes out with a similar feature, but now my considerations are evenly split between the two.
