Enjoying people kicking off in the Joystiq comments. Usual stuff. THE REVIEWER IS CLEARLY NOT A GAMER etc.
The only real problem I have with that review is that he says Skyrim's story is better. I REALLY like Skyrim, but the story was it's weakest element (next to bugs...). Unless DD's story is completely batshit stupid, I can't see how it could be any worse than Skyrim.
Yes let's blame an entire company for the actions of a few assholes.
Why not? Occupy Wallstreet does it every day. ::rimshot::
Anyway, I originally posted this as a conversation item, sort of sad it devolved the way it did. I just find it amazing that, within a bevy of already awful PR, Capcom lets something like this come to light. It's not even like they're trying to catch a break, it's like they're coyly trying to make everyone in that company look completely incompetent. Really, if you put all the press releases surrounding Capcom news together from over the past 8 months, it sounds like a bunch of kids trying desperately to make up excuses for not doing their homework.
Bullying is bad, mmmmmmkay kids. And that goes for internet bullying as well. No one thinks you're cool picking on the weak. Or for being "edgy" online with your "too cool for school" and "don't care" attitude.
Words hurt more than you can possibly imagine. If you use hateful and mean words to people on the internet, you're a cyber bully. Which is worse than actually bullying someone in real life. The internet is supposed to be a place of understanding and harmony, not a deluge of negativity.
Oh man...was this an actual thing? I keep expecting John Lovitz to pop in and go, "ACTING!"
A Japanese game developer who worked on Dragon's Dogma at Capcom is claiming that she was bullied by her fellow employees to the point where she considered committing suicide. According to an article on Japanese publication Minpokyo, the unnamed 20+ year old female joined Capcom in 2009 and was assigned to the Dragon's Dogma development team. But the trouble began when a senior female employee was assigned to the team too. According to the report, she decided to make it very unpleasant for the unnamed employee.
The female employee claims that the manager went out of her way to criticize her in meetings and conspired to give her tasks that were impossible and often without any instructions. In one cited example she claims that she worked on a database to improve the efficiency of internal game development only to have her work put on the junk heap and told that "even if the database is a success, [she was] worthless to the team."
The report goes on to say that shortly after that happened two other managers went out of their way to get her fired. They allegedly spread rumors throughout the company that "her ideas stink," that she was a "problematic” employee who would abandon her work and skip meetings. When she attempted to fix the problem with Capcom's HR department, she claims that they did nothing to fix the situation.
Later that year the woman was diagnosed with an anxiety disorder and while on sick leave she reportedly attempted to commit suicide using sleeping pills, antidepressants and cold medicine. When she returned to work some of her co-workers said she hadn't fully recovered from her illness. Her boss eventually suspended her and later fired her.
Naturally this whole ordeal has led to a lawsuit against Capcom.
Capcom has not publicly commented on this story and it should be noted that hearing one side of the story puts Capcom in a bad light. No doubt the company will mount a defense against the young woman's claims in court.
So, on top of on disc DLC, consumer grifting, Press fabrications, and working their people into the hospital, we get this.
Capcom...what are you doing? It honestly feels like ever since the clover guys left and Inafune left, the only people remaining are the petty idiots who you tried to stay away from in high school. Bad decision after bad decision after bad decision after INTERNAL SCANDAL after bad decision. Amazing...
How do some people always get the games before their release? I want too ._.
You take a gamble and order at the capcom store. You either get the game a week early for 2 weeks late. After how they botched the Marvel vs Capcom 3 release, I'm never ordering from them ever again.
