BombWatch: If I could just get off the ground...

So yeah, I'm stuck here in Savannah, Georgia because my flight got canceled this morning. A flight was open for later today, but my family is stupid, so they booked one for tomorrow. I guess my quest for all the trophies on Super Stardust will have to wait one more day.

I'm staying at the CandleWood hotel down here. It's pretty nice. That's C as in candle, W as in wood. Get that?

What was scary about today was that I, for some reason, picked up a fever out of nowhere. I've come down from it now, but my family was worried.

I finished reading Batman: Year One. It is a great, great book. You must check it out. Nolan based Batman Begins on that along with other works and you can definitely see the references he made. If any of the following interests you, you will love it:

  • Jim Gordon kicks ass, literally. He beats the crap out of guys.
  • Selina Kyle (Catwoman) is a dominatrix
  • Batman gets shot, a bunch
  • It features dark, muted colors
  • It features tons of corrupt police officials
  • It's a Frank Miller story

Next up on my reading list is The Dark Knight Returns, another Frank Miller story. It tells the tale of an older Batman who has given up crime fighting, who only returns when he sees that his city has fallen apart. I'm excited.

Well, If I can finally get home, I can talk about some PixelJunk Eden. But either way, I'll see you on the boards,

PS. One of my first full articles (well, it could still use some additions) was accepted. It's for the game Smackdown vs. Raw.

What the hell, people...

I'm kind of pissed off. I've been looking at some of the pages that I edited to make them coherent and fix the spelling errors. One of them was the Resistance: Fall of Man page. I edited it because all of the background info on the events leading up to the game was wrong. I got a couple points for doing it and I was content. Well, whoever wrote that crap that I had to edit has gone back and made it crappy again. What the f*ck?

The same thing has happened with the Kratos page. People are idiots!

BombWatch: Snakes on a Plane

Well, I sure hope not. I'm leaving my vacation spot in Hilton Head, South Carolina today and traveling back up to Pittsburgh. All I can hope for is no snakes. That would be nice.

See you on the other side (Well, I guess I'm not going to see you, but you get the idea),

BombWatch: So yeah...

So yeah, there's not much going on around here. Not much to write about. I typed up a mad long BIoShock article today. You guys will definitely like it. I'm still reading Batman: Year One. Also, I'm listening to more episodes of the Hotspot from back in the day. I just got to 2006, so I'm pumped.

So yeah...that's pretty much it.

I'm out,

BombWatch: Sunday Mornin' Comin' Down

I won't abuse the multiple titles thing. It may get annoying, both to you guys and myself.

So, it's Sunday morning. I'm gonna take a guess and say that it'll be another slow day. I may play some more emulated Genesis games today, which means I might turn that normally fun process into a pain in the ass by taking screenshots.

Umm...

I really don't know what to talk about right now. Nothing is going on...at all. I guess I could tell you guys that I read part one (of four) of Batman: Year One. It's good stuff. I'm going to read more today. I might finish it, actually.

So, I guess that's it.

See you guys on the boards,

BombWatch: Slow Days; or, MK II Screenshot Frenzy!

BombWatch Day 6 Wrap-Up

I would definitely call today a slow day. I only posted/was compelled to post a few times, but I reached 250, which is good number to end on.

One of the things I did do today, however, was play some MK2 on my laptop with my new Genesis emulator. I took some screens (about 25) and uploaded them to Giant Bomb. I'm hoping to get some good points for that. I also have a pack I just downloaded with 948 roms in it. That's 948 games I can upload screenshots for.

And...that's pretty much it. I didn't go see X-Files today. It was kind of a last minute decision, but I really didn't want to see that movie anyway. Pretty much the last thing is that I bought some Batman graphic novels: Batman: Year One and Batman: The Dark Knight Returns. Both are by Frank Miller. I was looking for the Watchmen, but the bookstore I went to didn't have it, so I bought the Batman stuff.

Also, tomorrow is the last day of my vacation and I'll be back in Pittsburgh on Monday. I'll be looking forward to getting the final trophies in Super Stardust and playing some PixelJunk Eden.

BombWatch: More on Gaming Podcasts; or, Yay Emulators!

Hey there,

So, I listened to about 5 or so episodes of the Hotspot last night. The earlier ones were only about 15 minutes long, so it took a little over an hour. I really enjoyed it. It's a great flashback, since the episodes were all from the pre-360 era. I also checked out the first Arrow Pointing Down, which I had already heard, but since I was already in nostalgia mode, I thought I'd check it out again. Looking back, it's absolutely awesome that I was only listening to two unemployed guys talking over Skype about video games, drinks, and Girls Gone Wild. I didn't check 1up Yours because it was 2 and a half hours long. I need to make time for something like that. I listened to about 6 podcasts in the time I would have listened to that one.

The other big news for me is that I downloaded a Sega Genesis emulator. Actually it's a program that emulators pretty much every Sega console up to, but not including, the Saturn. Now, I can take my own screenshots of Genesis games and upload them to the site, which is pretty awesome.

I'm going to see The X-Files: I Want to Believe today, which I'm not really excited about. I wanted to see Step Brothers, but no one wanted to go with me. When someone asked me to see X-Files, I thought "a movie's a movie" and agreed.

I'm not going to do the progress thing because I don't feel like checking. I think I'm gonna keep that to the nightly version of the BombWatch.

Ok, now that I have been informed that I unknowingling ripped off banksrob's catchphrase, I'm gonna try something different.

This is IGN Gamescoop, and we're out. (I think that's not taken)

BombWatch: Gaming Podcasts; or, People Are Going to Hate Me

I'm gonna write this a little earlier than usual because the site keep crapping out on me.

So, day five is not really over, but I'm going to pretend it is and one of the best threads I saw today was about gaming podcasts. It was basically, "what gaming podcasts do you listen to?" I was damn surprised to find out that people on this site listen to A LOT of podcasts. I myself listen to a couple of the IGN podcasts as well as the Bombcast. I also used to listen to the Hotspot before...well, you know.

Anyway, the general consensus of that thread, which was even more surprising to me, was that almost everyone who answered the question sited the 1up Yours podcast as one that they normally listen to. My interest piqued, I threw 1up Yours into my RSS feed and brough it over to my MP3 player. I'm gonna check it out tonight!

I've also decided to go back and put the Hotspot back onto my feed. I got into the Hotspot relatively late in the game, so I thought I'd catch up on some older episodes. One example being the first episode, which is only about 15 minutes long. I listened to that one just a few minutes ago. After I finished, I thought I'd try GB again, as it wasn't working when I was putting the podcast onto my MP3.

My next point for this BombWatch is that I'm still annoyed with people posting in the wrong forums. This time, I'm annoyed about people mixing up the Off-Topic and General Discussion forums. General Discussion has to do with general gaming questions and the site itself, Off-Topic is for things that don't have to do with gaming. Why is that so hard to understand? Also, in every thread that I think is in the wrong forum, I plainly say that it needs to go into another forum, then I'll answer the question or reply to the post as normal. I can see that getting annoying to people, and maybe they'll hate more for it, but I'm gonna do it anyway.

Finally, I just want to say for all you Dark Knight fans who may have missed it, I made a thread about a fake Michael Bay script for The Dark Knight. It is hilarious. Check it out if you haven't already: http://www.giantbomb.com/forums/off-topic/31/michael-bays-the-dark-knight/5046/#30

Before I sign out here, it's time for progress.

I started the day with 218 posts, now I have 242. I started and ended the day with 70 points.

Keep on bombing,

PS. I finally got the right punctuation for a blog post with multiple titles, such as this one. I'm gonna start using multiple titles more often.
