More pertinent to the video, New Snap looks fun and I might pick it up one day once I get through more backlog.

I'd try it, at least. The problem with these GAAS looter shooters isn't the core gameplay so much as it is the longer term content loop and grind. Destiny feels like an awesome game to anyone if they run through all the content just once. Longevity is the struggle.

i.e., you have to be able to like MMOs.

Sounds about right. I had fun playing the beta with a friend, and was impressed by the ground-level combat and scale of the map, but had concerns about the game's longevity. The game feels tightly polished on the small scale, but that's it. Thanks for the review, Jeff.

That didn't bother me so much. In my head Kyle Katarn was still the "Jedi" that runs around capping bad guys with blasters and rocket launchers when they expect him to take out a sword.

But I get the preference for the mercenary side of Kyle Katarn, not everyone needs to be a Jedi to be interesting.

@sterile_shark: AC3 stepped up the violence with a bunch of new Filipino martial arts stabby moves, but yeah I think this game has gone that way because nobody fights with the big weapons anymore like in Renaissance Italy.
