@skinkybob: I had the same issue with the controls. I was throwing things left and right, like you mentioned. I can totally see how it's a great game...it just wasn't for me. I'm starting to think though maybe I'm just not a Zelda guy. I played both Link to the Past and Ocarina at my cousins house a kid, but never played anything else. I guess I just don't have that fondness for the series as others.
@skinkybob: I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one!
I tried so hard to like this game, but just could not wrap my head around it. I felt like it was trying to impede my progress at every turn. That being said, I can totally see the amount of polish and work that the game exudes, along with why people love the game.
I enjoyed Doom 2016, but just can't work up any excitement for this one quite yet. I recently picked up Doom 1 and 2 on the Switch, and that has been an absolute nostalgic rip-roaring good time. It immediately brought me back to playing both as a kid on my parents PC. Maybe I've got my Doom fill from that instead?
Watching this series with Jeff makes me realize how badly I would love some sort of "extreme sports" game renaissance. I played a little of Steep in the past, but it didn't hit that same note that games like Tony Hawk did for me.
I tried my hardest to play the Skate games in the past, but I couldn't nail the controls.
Thanks for posting this again @rorie! I had to make a few changes from playing games over the Christmas break.
Anyway, here is mine!
I'm probably the only one...but I LOVED Days Gone. There is something so awesome about gassing up your bike and going out into the wilderness to scrounge for supplies and push the story forward. I was hooked, and am completely on board for a sequel. I also loved the Easter Eggs to Syphon Filter. PLEASE SONY BRING SYPHON FILTER BACK!
I'd say my biggest surprise was Luigi's Mansion 3. I bought a Switch this year. It's the first Nintendo Console I've played since a 64. Having never played any of the other games in the series, I was hooked immediately.
Also, shout out to Ace Combat 7. The single player was engaging, albeit tough near the end, but the PSVR missions were amazing. It's something I've used to show people VR and it's so cool to be strapped into a cockpit!
Enjoyed the Switch Mini talk. I think I may take the plunge if that thing comes up and is $200 or under.
I haven't owned a Nintendo console since the 64, and feel like I could use some of that Nintendo magic again. At this point, there are at least 4 or 5 games I'm interested in. If there is no docking, that doesn't really worry me too much. Big release games that I buy for my PS4 will still due the job on the tv.
The only thing that has me hesitant is my time with the Vita. I use my Vita occasionally when flying on planes, but it really ended up becoming a handheld PS1 classic machine for me. My hope is that I'll be more engaged since the Switch will have a lot of enjoyable games on it.
