" I don't care how badly Origins sold compared to other Bioware games. I'm pretty sure it was still in the 7 digits, and that means they most likely made a profit from it. Spending less than a year developing a sequel in the hopes of increasing profits, is not ok by me."
Origins is actually Bioware's best selling game ever which makes all the changes for Dragon Age II seem even stranger. "
I personally only bought Origins because it was a Bioware game, the Ultimate Ed was on sale, and I had credit on Walmart.com.
When I first played it I was completely surprised by the KoToR style gameplay. I still remember when KoToR came out and people were bitching about the fact that "weren't really playing".

Most of the changes probably came from their monitoring statistics.
I would imagine the statistics showing most people button mashing their way through fights, while useless in the game it would show Bioware most people want greater involvement in combat.
I still button mash in Origins, can't help myself.

Mm...will Anders stay dead?  I feel like he won't.  Umm...WTF???  I get losing Isabel...I take it the Sebastian thing happened because you didn't kill Anders...but WHY did you have to kill Fenris? "
He turned on me when I sided with the mages.
I think it's because he was almost never in my party,  so I wasn't able to influence him.

" Bros, its all about that Aveline & Varric. TRUST NOONE but Aveline & Varric they are your true friend, maybe Anders too even though  SPOILER WARNING: Click here to reveal hidden content., he still never goes against you. Aveline & Varric will also side up with you no matter what and thats why they're gangsta. Then again Merril does side with you if you decide to help mages or templars but still SHE BETRAYED YOU in the fade plus its her fault the keeper died and everyone in the camp was slaughtered, she's an idiot. "
The camp slaughter is preventable, you have to take responsibility.

" @Mike76x:  Besides the ending Kotor 2 was superior to the first in every way. The first Kotor also had glitches,  and i beg to differ MOST of the characters were better and more diverse compared to Bioware's usual copy paste characters in every game, Obsidian has always been better at writing and dialogue trees than Bioware with their "Yeah, Lol Yeah, FUCK YEAARRR"  dialogue. Bioware is much better at creating universes but they could take a lesson from Obsidian when it comes to writing.  Kotor 2 is definately not the tragedy Dragon Age II is, the only reason the fanboys hate on it so much is because its not by bioware. I'd say be glad Bioware didn't make Kotor 2 it probably would have been ME2 & DA2 lol. What issues Kotor 2 had was mainly because lucas arts rushed it and not because of Obsidian. Honestly at this point if there was ever a Kotor 3 announced i'd want anyone BUT Bioware to develope it since their intent on destroying their own franchises. Kotor 3 by Bioware just might turn into the force unleashed. "

Are you kidding?
The story in KoToR2 literally made me hate Star Wars.
The story was bad, the characters were bad, with the exception of the breaking down items to base components, there was nothing good about it.
People following you because you're a force vacuum, so they don't need to create valid reasons for your companions to be there? That was stupid.

Anyway OP why did you list Kotor 2? surely Kotor 2 is better than DA2, Kotor 2 might have had a really crap ending but its dialogue and its mechanics were certainly superior to the first Kotor. "
KoToR 2 was horrible.
I fell through floors constantly, NONE of the characters were likable, the bad guys were crap, and it was just the worst thing to ever happen to the Star Wars universe in general.

Completely untrue. "
Playing the 360 version, when you held the left trigger you could see a tag of every enemy, door, usable item on nearly the entire map.
They limited the range of that in DA2.

" Either way, the way I remember DA:O is when a battle started, you had a set amount of enemies to clear before battles ended and those baddies could usually be seen as you enter the area.  Occasionally a demonic creature or summon would appear as combat was happening, but for the most part I felt like I knew what I was getting in to and could be tactical with my party accordingly.   All of that planning is meaningless if unseen forces always show up midway through a battle at unknown locations  and in unknown makeup and numbers.  introducing a crazy wildcard like that breaks tactical play styles-- pure and simple.  "
In Origins and Awakenings there were a crap-ton of enemies on certain maps, my game ALWAYS  locked up in the Deep Roads and I play on the 360 with the game installed.
The same thing always happened to me in KoToR, so the goal for me instead of just surviving was to speed kill darkspawn and save asap.
DA2 never lagged on me once in my 1 2/3 plays.

Yeah, the game said that it transferred my save correctly, but I have to assume that it didn't, because I didn't bump into anything involving Harrowmont, the werewolves, Nathaniel, the Architect or anything like that.  I assumed it worked because Alistair was dead and Anora was Queen (though I never met her, just heard people say Queen), and because I bumped into Zevran and Leliana. "
In my first playthrough Varric mentioned Harrowmont is king, I ran into a former werewolf, I bumped into Nathaniel about 3 times thought the last wasn't a cutscene, and I talked to Alistair.

" Nathaniel is there.  Apparently Merril and the Keeper are both from the dalish warden origin.  There were more than a few references, just like ME2, but not a whole lot of impact on the actual game itself. "

The Dalish Warden started off with the elf that Merrill said disappeared through the eluvian she has in her house.

The save I imported was from Witch Hunt.
So far it only looks at the choices from Origins and Awakenings
