I loved Final Fantasy XIII not only as a new entry in the Final Fantasy franchise, but as a game in general. It seems that the common complaints don't apply to be whatsoever. One may complain that the linear nature of the first half of the game is a bad thing. Sure, you're being ushered forward constantly, but is this really a bad thing? Final Fantasy XIII truly excels in story and level design. The environments are all beautiful, and the story is deep and you begin to care for the characters as they grow. I'm not going to hang around grinding when I could continue to the next gorgeous locale, and deep cut scenes.
Speaking of grinding, that's why the level cap is in place. Sure you can grind all you want, but you can never feel over powered. While the crystarium is easy to max, you won't reach this limit until shortly before the next upgrade. That is unless you've been doing some major grinding. A huge part of the fun of FF13 comes from the battle system. if you're over leveled, you can simply mash X / A (depending on your console) until the battle is over. If you're limited in terms of leveling, that's not an option. There will be a challenge, and strategy will be employed if you want to be successful.
Final Fantasy XIII isn't a bad entry, it's just a different one. Square wanted to try some new stuff for this entry in the series, and in my opinion, they've accomplished everything they hoped for.
I'm always excited for some new Pokémon. Personally I'm amazed by how well the graphics have developed compared to the fourth generation. Graphical updates in Pokémon are usually only minor, but the use of depth in the overworld, and the full body back sprites look great. Thankfully I still have tons of hours to sink into Soul Silver before this comes out in North America in about a year.
The PS3 Slim looks great in my opinion. But the thing that really makes me excited for it is the price point. I'm super excited to buy it, and finally get into PS3 gaming.
