Im not much of a reader, but I truly enjoy reading Alex's reviews.....You just pull me in, and should consider making a novel or something..Seriously Alex.. dont ever stop writing. Let the VJs of GB get launched through cannons for views, but please make sure you keep writing..
@johnnymcginley: I thought this was an emulator? I mean its 30 games on a single board. if its not playing the cartridges, then its emulating them, yes?
I really was going to give up on this game after playing a few rounds last night, but watching Brad refuse to give up and keep playing has be second guessing how bad it might be.. He seemed to be having fun.
I maybe be cynical, but after watching the progression of the Uncharted series from 1 to 4. I cant helped but feel the game is incredibly stagnant from a game-play perspective. With the exception of the grapple hook.. This game hasn't changed in 10 years.. I find it weird how this is really overlooked in games in general.
I also think the PS4 controller is a really underutilized controller.. I mean, it has a speaker, a touchpad, and a lightsource. Blow on the mic to dust off artifacts..or do a scratching motion to reveal engravings...Imagine the other neat little archaeology puzzles, that could have been added. Tomb-raider had the right idea..
I love these guys, they are amazing writers, funny and very insightful, but watching a panel about reviewers always seemed a bit self gratuitous, and these seem to get more and more fratty by the year.
I think its more of the fact that its an action rpg game with a budget for such, than the developers being limited in scope to more emphatic situations.
Personally I wanted more scenarios in division where I helped people that didnt require shooting.
My first reaction when I saw a stray dog was to try and feed it, I would've loved a scenario where I found a lost child and huffed it back to the parents at the base,or talked to citizens about whats going on in their neighborhood. But that takes a serious coding and animation budget and it needs to be an action/ shooter first. and the variety of these scenarios would need to be substantial as to not feel stilted.
(which happened to me in GTV)
For now,
I understand why these moments are limited to camera recording, cellphone conversations, and echos.
@sweenster98: Totally agree, especially at the lengths they go to make this feel realistic. Dogs shit n piss, and I saw a crow and rat fight the other day. But a highlevel crotch grabbin gangsta will take 50 bullets to the face, and numbers cascade from his head..A super easy fix wouldve been to add visible armor to these fools, and make the armor pop off letting you know your next shot would finally off the enemy. because wearing a level 30 purple hoodie makes no sense to me
