I was an angry dumbass when I was a teenager. But since I was too meek to take my anger out on the real world, I relegated myself to yelling and getting banned on video game forums. I still can't help but cringe every time I think about that phase in my life.

I can't quite remember how, but I stumbled upon the Hotspot one day and I was confused. I mean these guys were talking about video games; why weren't they at each other's throats with NPD numbers and review scores? It's because they were too busy talking about actual news, and more importantly, laughing. God, that laugh. After listening for a few months, I began to notice a change in how I thought, not only about video games, but about life in general. I was happier, and a bit more ready to take on whatever life would throw at me.

Ryan, along with the rest of the GS crew and later the GB crew, helped me see that being positive is always, always, always the better option.

Thanks, Ryan, for helping me become a better person.

So to be nitpicky, that's not sampling, that's interpolation. Sampling is when you straight up take the audio from another recording and use it in another recording.

So my conclusion is that it only was used because Jay Z had to much money lying about, discuss.

I mean, I bet that's a pretty big part of it. But it also works with what the song is trying to say: Jay-Z is, at the end of the day, an entertainer. He might be a real person and all that, but do we actually give a shit? No. So here's Justin Timberlake singing Nirvana lyrics. You'll talk about that and you'll be entertained and I'll get my money.

You could argue that he just wants to turn heads, and at some point you're right. But the dude had to have chosen those lyrics for a reason. When you're at that level of fame as a rapper, there's no part of your image that isn't super carefully crafted. Maybe aside from Kanye, but even when he's just spouting shit nonstop he still wants people to know he's a radical.

@w1n5t0n: But GTA5 is incredibly popular. If the images of a certain minority that the public are seeing in entertainment are nuanced, positive, or at least non-stereotypical, hearing what someone from that minority would have to say would be more interesting than someone commenting from the sidelines.

I don't know about that but I'd like to hear a minority's opinion on people watching while I poop.

I'd like to hear everyone's opinion on people watching while I poop.

@denzelflossington: Props to you for holding it down out here. I'll admit that I'm not the most well-educated about this, or the most vocal, but I'm glad you're here to help educate people without antagonizing them.

@dreamndayunite: Asian privilege is also a thing. Privilege is a multi-layered concept that doesn't just apply to straight white dudes.

@whatisdelicious: I think the point @johnham is trying to make is that in this case, someone belonging to a minority would have an inherently more affected opinion that someone not belonging to that minority. Let's take the Tomodachi Life debacle for example. The guys talked about it a bit on the Bombcast. They're able to broach these topics in a very sensitive manner, which is great. But by doing that, they're commenting from the sidelines. A gay man/woman would inherently have a different opinion as Nintendo's choice is something that more directly affects people from that group.

It didn't occur to me what ethnicity they were until it was mentioned, you people need a hobby. This is a video game website about a bunch of dudes having fun leave your politik at home please.

It's also a website where the staff can discuss at length topics like racism, sexism, journalistic integrity, and how to handle the troubles of everyday life. Giant Bomb, while lighthearted in nature, is never afraid to tackle the more serious topics, and the dismissal of that is kind of insulting to the crew and what they're capable of. This is a conversation that needs to happen, and on a larger scale. Sweeping it under the rug is just perpetuating status quo.
