I'm really enjoying this series! I remember reading through a screenshot LP of Silent Hill 2 that used to be on the LP Archive, but otherwise I haven't experienced the game. It's great to hear Jess's expertise and see Jan's reactions to it.

On the topic of Resident Evil and liking odd games... I really like Resident Evil 6. I often feel like I'm one of the few people who does, and for good reason, considering all the problems that game has. But it's so over-the-top and ridiculous, and I love the idea of having four campaigns that intersect. For some reason, I really enjoy in video games when every playable character has their own unique melee moves and finishers, and RE6 actually does that aspect well (even if it's a clunky game to play, to put it kindly). I've played through it three times now (twice in co-op with friends), and I've always had a blast with it. I think it's good Resident Evil changed direction after it (RE2: Remake is my favorite RE game), but I do kinda wish they'd make another game like it with better controls.

The aforementioned Silent Hill Ranch sign from the Silent Hill HD Collection. I had to look it up myself when Jess described it.

... Watching this and hearing Jeff mentioned Anthem legitimately made me want to play Anthem again.

What's wrong with me?

I appreciated the suggestions for the Xbox Smash Bros clone, but I honestly was hoping that Xbox would do something like that before the Bethesda and Activision acquisitions. Which may sound crazy because it's like, "Who would even be in it?" but I'd love for them to just grab every single Xbox exclusive ever and put them all together.

Obviously, you'd have Master Chief and Marcus Fenix, but you'd also have Blinx, the characters from Brute Force, that guy from Crimson Skies, Viva Pinata, Kameo, characters from Blue Dragon and Lost Odyssey, Alan Wake, Jack Joyce from Quantum Break, Sunset Overdrive characters, DAVID YOUNG FROM D4... I feel like you could actually have a really eclectic, fun mix even without throwing in Bethesda and Activision.

And to throw my hat in the ring: I'm not a fan of the new theme song. I'm glad some people are enjoying it, though! I know it's work-in-progress and I'm hoping it'll grow on me.

I didn't know Jess used to work in an escape room.

She did and she escaped. That's why she works at GB now.

This made me laugh, thank you

I found the Kojima and Silent Hill discussion odd considering that P.T./Silent Hills existed at one point. I don't know how actually involved Kojima was with P.T., and who knows if Silent Hills would've actually been any good, but it doesn't seem that crazy for Silent Hill or even Konami fans to clamor for a Kojima-led Silent Hill when he did produce something related to the series with his name on it that people really liked. It seems weirdly reductive to chock it all up to Konami fans wanting Kojima on any of their properties or to attribute it to the creative bankruptcy of fandoms. (Not to say those aren't factors, though.) I do agree with Jess though that it's not going to happen.

Also, I get the Halo story discussion. I've always enjoyed the series' story, but I've fallen off the books over the years (not sure if that's a good thing or not). To be fair, the series does have characters besides Master Chief and Cortana, but most of them (besides the Arbiter, who you played as in Halo 2) were dead by the end of the first trilogy, and the new characters introduced in 4 and 5 haven't really shown up at all in the Halo Infinite marketing, so it seems like they're really focusing on Master Chief and Cortana. I'm hoping some of those characters do show up in some fashion in Halo Infinite, particularly the Arbiter.

I've only played one match, but I really enjoyed it! I'm so glad to see Dr. Halo back in action.

I really enjoyed this video; I wasn't super familiar with Tamoor's work, but he and Danny have a great rapport, and I like the idea of having an experienced and a new(ish)-to-the-series person on these games.

I would echo the request for subtitles (if they're available for the game); I understand if Tamoor and Danny talk over the story stuff, but it'd be nice to at least be able to read what characters are saying. There were also a few times I felt a bit out of the loop as someone who's not familiar with Souls games (in terms of Danny and Tamoor talking about the series), but maybe that was just me.

All in all, this was great first episode, and I'm looking forward to this series continuing!

@bestyhammar: That's a fair point that a lot of dead characters are replaced by an expy to allow their missions to still happen. Personally, I wish that BioWare had been willing to lock out more content depending on your choices, though I feel like you'd have players complaining that they couldn't do missions and were missing out on content.

That being said, there are still 2 companions that can die in 2, and if they're dead you miss out on all their unique conversations and party banter. That's content you miss out on as a consequence for your actions. And I once read that one of those companions has the second-most lines of dialogue of any companion, so it doesn't feel like BioWare shorted those companions because of their possible absence. (Some of the other ME2 companions aren't so lucky in that regard in 3, so I get that complaint.)

And while I do think the criticism of the expies replacing dead characters is fair, it does give different playthroughs a greater degree of variation than I think people give it credit. I felt like each of my 3 playthroughs of ME3 had its own flavor due to my choices in the first two games, even if I was doing the same missions. There's a choice in ME2 that majorly colors your interactions with Wrex in ME3, for example. I do think BioWare could've done more and I wish they'd done more, I agree on that, but I also think they did more than people tend to give them credit for.

(And I think you can get locked out of endings/certain versions of endings via choices made in prior games, but it's all in the context of the "Get a high enough number to unlock all endings" aspect, which I'm not going to argue for; I absolutely agree that I wish there was more variety in the endings and that it was more influenced by your choices in the trilogy.)
